Can I take provera to have my period start a week earlier?

My periods are regular and I just want to have it the week before my vacation to avoid getting my period the day of my traveling. Thanks

If you do not normally take it, I wouldn't mess with your cycle.  Some women that are on birth control pills might not take the sugar/inactive pills and just immediately start a new pack to avoid spotting/bleeding for a vacation week.  I would only take provera to avoid your period/delay your period if a doctor prescribes it for you.  I wouldn't jack up your hormones on your own.  You also can have break through bleeding and spotting while on provera.  Anyway, you take it and have to keep taking it until you'd want a period/bleeding as it will occur 1 to 3 days from when you stop taking provera.  good luck and happy vacation!
