Chronic vaginal infections/ discharge/itchiness

I have been suffering for 4 years with chronic vaginal infections. It all started after I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend at the time who was clean. I have been to the gyno probably 30 times in 4 years, and it ranges from BV to yeast infections to cervicitis to vaginitis. I am not on birth control and I do not douche or use scented tampons.

The last time I went in, I was itching with a heavy yellow/green discharge. The doc told me if I hadn't said any of that and he did my pap, he would say it was normal. He ran tests, sent in lab tests and all results were NEGATIVE. There is no way that this is negative. I am negative for STDs and for any bacteria. Just lots of white blood cells.

My relationship with my boyfriend has gone significantly downhill because I am so insecure to have sex. There is so much discharge that when we do have sex I get so grossed out.

I feel disgusting and helpless. I have been to three OBGYNs and the last one (who is really great) just told me that women freak out from malcolored discharge when it's really normal sometimes. He said my cervix looks weird but that's just how it is.

HELP I feel so helpless. I want to go to a hollistic doctor or something... does anyone have any tips?

Thanks.

Did anybody got any answers regarding this ? I think i have similar problems...4 months ago it started happening to my mom...after she drank antibiotics...her entrance to vagina started burning but without any discharge and ofc she went to the doctor and ofc they thought it was yeast...it isn't...week after my mom i started to have the same symptoms(plus a bit more white discharge then normal but its not like cottage cheese just like milky white discharge) ...burning at the entrance in my vagina...we were both treated for yeast for several months, it got better slightly but then it all went back again...we have days that it feels like its all back to normal but  a day later its back :( ALL TEST came back negative including urine, blood, all std's) it looks like everything is perfectly good in gynecologist  area, but IT ISNT :( i was even treated with dalacine cream because gynecologist thought it could be some kind of bacteria even tough the test didnt show anything..) sill the symptoms are still here. Sometimes it is burning while i peeing but rarely and not that much like it would if i would have a bladder infection

The last thing to do is to test myself for myco and ureoplasm in my urinal tract -urethra . And hope to god that that is the problem that is causing all of this...I sure hope anybody have any helpful answers because i will go mad...

Hi! Did you even find out what this was? And was the yeast confirmed in the swab, or just speculated?

It can be a number of things you said that there was no std. Std's can form a year after infection up to fiver years after being infected your boy friend could of gave you a std when you wanted to have sex with him and did not know it let the dr do a pap it will be a closure if you are not or do have a std. Also aids/ HIV infections in women can form up to 1 to 5 years and  when infected the scientific fact as a woman is infected with a std or aids/HIV they get chronic yest infections with green and yellow discharge i would get a blood test if i were you to rule out this std and form of illness that is deadly and you will need medication for this is not a reversible disease you could die from it if not treated.

Another thing i was wondering to do you have diabetics if so that could be a reason to  the blood sugar if it is to low or high you could get a yest infection with green discharge or yellow as well with a foul smell if not treated it can go to other parts of your body like your kidneys and liver and cause infections as well in women yest infections can be deadly if not treated it hits 3 major organs of the body the liver the kidneys and the intestines if infections are found it could take weeks or months for it to be cured.

Also high blood pressure and cholesterol. also poor diet and health can cause yest infections that are foul smelling and with green and or yellow discharge or thick or cottage cheesy looking yest.

If none of these pertain to you or if your not sure also there is a test you can buy by monastate it is a infection tester as well also contact your family dr or your local emergency room and have them test you blood work is better then urine because the blood holds more and hides more infections then anything also get a pap smear as well it will help if something is serious because if it is a std or HIV/aids that is not curable and you could really be ill and die from it certain std's can kill as well all know and if it does not kill or illness is not shown it can make a woman sterile and Infertile.Infertility is the main reason in some women that they may not be able to get pregnant.

If you and your boyfriend or spouse are on rocky ends of the sexual spectrum then be sure of what to expect  in cases of std and HIV/ aids the partner gives it to their loved ones and does not even know it .

Be careful also herpes is the same kind of illness as well; but it comes near or at the end of your period so i be careful when having intimacy to not to have sex or take medications to help fight the illness or disease/ If not all the above them your chemistry may be off and you may need to douche with a cleanser that has enzymes that  cure infections that is found at the local pharmacy like rite aid and cvs or walmart  also refresh is a good brand  try that it works for most women and in your case it will work for you the chemicals in the douche are hypo allergenic so if your allergic to chemicals it will work for your body.

I do wish you the best and i am so sorry that you have this but it will be ok.The best thing is not to worry and call the dr again tell her or him about the illness you are going threw and tell them that this is something that is worrying you and ask for the blood tests to be done results are normally back with 1 hour to 1 day depending on what they are looking for. Be well and eat right and things will work out!

Hi ladies,
I found your thread because i too am desperately looking for answers. I have the same problem, chronic discharge that keeps coming back no matter what. I'm at the end of my rope and dont know what to do. I have been tested numerous times and they all come back negative, no bacteria, no yeast, no nothing. I have been on thrush treatments and copiious antibiotics including flagyl, which made me chronically nauseous. I take probiotics I just dont know what else I can do. I have had this problem for 4 months and it is driving me up the wall.

Hi, I feel like I am in a similar situation. I have had chronic vaginitis for almost a year now. It started after my boyfriend and I were 'touching' down there, no penetration, but there was contact. Other than that, I have never had any other sexual encounters. I started having whitish/slightly yellow discharge about 2 weeks after and vaginal burning. No itching. I thought it might have been a urinary tract infection, but that came back negative. All the tests (chlamydia, gonorrhea, yeast, trichomonas) came back negative. My vaginal pH was (and still is) high, maybe around 5, and I had lots of white blood cells in the discharge. My GYN thought I may have had BV and was given Flagyl but that didn't help. I was also put on Ampicillin because she thought I may have had Group B Strep but that didn't help either. I was also put on Clindamycin. None of those helped my symptoms. I got my vaginal discharge rechecked and my doc said there were very few good bacteria now, still lots of white blood cells, and pH is still high.

So now I have no clue what is going on with me. She referred me to a doc who specializes in vaginitis, and he told me everything was normal...which, to me, is mind boggling, especially with all the symptoms that started suddenly. He said the increase in WBCs were normal, the discharge was normal, and the pH was normal!! I went back to my regular GYN and she told me she disagreed with the specialist because when she did my PAP, my cervix bled some and that usually happens with infection or cancer (my PAP was negative btw). I've also had an ultrasound done, which was negative.

Also, lately, I've been having major cramps with my periods and I never have before. I've had them for 4 consecutive months now...I'm afraid that that if there is an infection maybe it went up into my uterus.

I'm not sure what is going on right now or what I should do. My regular GYN is out of ideas. She told me to use a vinegar douche to see if it could restore the pH. I've only done it once, but it makes it burn even more down there. I've really hit a brick wall.

@ repeatedsplash: I'm thinking of seeing a holistic GYN...maybe they can help me replenish my good vaginal bacteria. Do you know if you still have good bacteria down there? And just curious, which antibiotics did you take? Hang in there!

I had an aunt who suffered for years with chronic yeast infections.  It did a # on her marriage.  She finally figured out what was causing it.  Her favorite jeans....made by Lee. She was allegic to the dye they used. Since she stopped wearing that brand she has not had one since.  I suggest you try eliminating items such as this.  Maybe its the laundry detergent you use or softener.  I also had a period of time with extreme itching that drove me crazy.  My gyno could find nothing wrong.  I had to eliminate all soaps etc that were perfumed and use items that were for sensitive skin with no scents.  Try this as well.  Good luck!!

Sometimes it itches so badly and other times it's not bad at all. I consistently have something going on though and there's hardly ever a day that my underwear isn't covered in discharge.
