Cuts on labias

I’ve been dealing with this for about a year now. About once every week and a half to two weeks I’ll get these little cuts on the inside of my labia majoras (the part that doesn’t grow hair) and on my perineal area. They’re always in the folds of them, kind of look like the skin just splits apart a bit. They don’t last any longer than 2-3 days and heal up without any scabbing. There are never any bumps, blisters, or pus - but my labias are usually bright red and inflamed. I never went to a doctor because I was terrified that it was genital herpes, which I know is extremely common, but I’m still afraid to get it checked. (It also seems too frequent and mild of symptoms to be herpes). Another thing I read it could possibly be was a yeast infection on the vulva. So about 3 months ago, I got two things of Monistat 7. One I used normally and inserted every night, the other I used as a cream for my vulva. The week went by and no cuts had appeared. I still had a lot of the cream I was using for my vulva, so I continued to use it and for the first time in almost a year I went a month without any cuts! My labias were no longer red and irritated all the time. I went and bought another tube of cream to use, just to be safe, to make sure everything was gone. It has now been 63 days since I started using it and I haven’t had any cuts in the usual places (inner labias and perineum). However, I still feel a bit irritated after sex and two days ago I felt really itchy above my clitoris (in the part that grows hair) and I scratched it, nothing extreme, but it was itchy. Then went to the bathroom and it was still itchy so I rubbed at it with toilet paper too. Later that night I felt a sting when I wiped and checked the area. There was a tiny cut there. I’ve never gotten a cut there before and I didn’t scratch that excessivlely to cause a cut. I’m wondering if this is just a coincidence or if it could be related. I guess now that I think about it, I never put any of the cream up there. I also wonder if maybe I’m just dry or have some sort of skin condition down there and it’s not necessarily the antifungal cream that cleared things up, but just the fact that I had some sort of cream (that was keeping it more moisturized down there).

To summarize, here are my questions :

1. Does what I described sound like genital herpes? Could breakouts be that mild and that often for so long?
2. If I had a yeast infection on my vulva, but I didn’t get the medicine on that specific part, could it still be irritated and affected by it? (Causing that cut)
3. What else could cause this? Any skin conditions or other infections?

I’m going to the doctor soon, I just need some thoughts on what I’m going through. Haven’t talked to anyone about it, just been silently freaking out.

Herpes is more like blisters or sores and have flare ups.  And it's important to know because first, you can take medicine to make it better and to keep flare ups at bay and second, if you are sexually active, it would be terrible to have sex with guys spreading the virus.  It doesn't sound like herpes to me though.

Women can have eczema of that area and dermatitis.  If the antifungal cream worked, it could be fungal.  Don't be afraid to get this figured out through a doctor.  That's what they are for.  And heading a problem dead on is how you overcome it.  So, go see a doctor either your regular doctor or a clinic.  Don't be afraid.  You want to get relief for this rather than suffering---  so go get help hon.  good luck
