Does anyone else have symptoms with group b strep? Or have Desquamative vaginitis?

Is there anyone out there who is in a similar position?

For 7 months I’ve had a ‘mystery’ vaginal infection, with burning/itching/redness/swelling/discharge. My only relief is during my period.

Been swabbed for everything, including all STDs, and all that comes back is group b strep. Tried 10 days of penicillin v and it didn’t do anything. Have also tried metronizadole.

Doctors all day that group b strep can’t cause symptoms, but I never had it before this (I was swabbed when pregnant) and so it’s a bit of a coincidence. They’ve suggested Desquamative vaginitis, but that was a guess. I’ve just started clindamycin vaginal cream and it doesn’t seem to be making any difference.

I don’t know how I can go on living like this, being in permanent pain with no cure. It’s plunging me into a deep depression and some days I can do nothing but cry about it the entire day.

Please, does anyone have any experience with this and can offer me a glimmer of hope?

Agh, so frustrating.  The problem is that doctors can take some of your discharge through a swab and put it under a microscope. They can see exactly what it consists of.  If it has bacteria, they see it, yeast, or whatever else.  And our swab comes back with group B strep. Things is, 25 percent of all healthy women have group b strep in the vagina.  It's only a problem when they become pregnant as it is dangerous for the baby during delivery.

Anyway, here is Group B strep information.  https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/group-b-strep/symptoms-causes/syc-20351729.  You are right, they don't normally treat it in healthy adults. But have you had a physical lately? Any underlying conditions are good to rule out such as diabetes.

Vaginitis, read this and see what you think. https://www.webmd.com/women/guide/sexual-health-vaginal-infections#1

Thanks for your reply!

I don’t have diabetes but this was all triggered by extreme stress, which has made me so run down. I’m 32 with 2 young children and was having an awful time right before this came on. It’s just weird that i never bad b strep while pregnant yet now I have high numbers.
