Dysmenorrhea

Over the past 5 or years, I've had very painful periods.  At first, they were spaced fairly sporadically (once or twice a year - at best).  It occured maybe 6 or so times in 2007 (twice I've awoken to intense abdominal pains/cramps [almost always accompained with the need to make a bowel movement]).  I'm not sexually active, but I did start a excercise regimen and have made drastic changes my diet.  I'm basically wondering if the onset of my recent working-out and diet change is directly related to the increased occurence of my Dysmenorrhea symptoms???

Hi,
I to have very painful periods..try staying away from caffiene and salty foods at least 3 days before your period as those can cause cramping..works for me...I also found out I had a polyp in my uterus and had that removed and now my periods arent as painful...I would talk to your doctor..Your probably just one of the unlucky ones like myself with this condition...Good Luck!!

I am still on the plus-size, but I've lost around 60lbs. so far.  They've actually been more prevalent since my weight-loss.  I wish you well, b/c I wouldn't know what to do if it happened every month.  It's happened twice to me at work.. the first literally had me curled-up in a ball on the floor.  It's definitely nice to know that I'm not alone.  Take care as well.

i as well have intensely painful periods, i actually had it today....ive done alot of research on this topic and ive learned that eating healthier and loosing weight (i don't know if you were overweight before or if you were just trying to tone up) can actually help cramps become less severe....take care, your a lucky one..i get them every month and it stops me in my tracks
