Hi,
Spotting and usually a light blood flow are the first visible signs that your period (menstrual flow) has started; most young women will notice a spot in their underwear first. A period can last anywhere from 2, 3, or 4 days for the first few months to a year. Other signs can be lower abdominal cramps, bloating, fatigue, irritability, and headaches, etc ~ which are normal... If you are experiencing a period for the very first time, you should definitely speak with your mom, older sister, aunt, or any female that you are close with, in order to get some advice and support during this time. You'll need to buy pads and panty liners to keep on hand. If you're experiencing any pain, consider a pain medication such as ibuprofen (like Advil or Midol), or acetaminophen (like Tylenol). You can google more information by searching 'Signs and Symptoms of Menstrual Cycle'.

If you don't believe this is your period, speak with your parent(s) right away and consider making an appointment for an examination with your family doctor.
Good Luck
