Help for recurrent vaginal bacterial and yeast infections

For the past 6 + months i have been battlling recurrent yeast and bacterial infections.  I have been on multiple doses of Diflucan, Terazol, Monistat, and clindamycin.  Nothing seems to help.  The doctor just says she doesnt know and prescribes something else.  I am getting extremely frustrated and depressed and dont know what else to do.  I tried adding a daily dose of probiotic  every day (did that for several months) and that only seemed to exacerbate things.  Then i switched to just eating one Activia a day, and no change.  Now i have another bacterial infection and am back on clindamycin with a dose of Diflucan to follow.

I have sex with the same man but not very often.   He has no other sexual partners either.  I have toys, but they  are all silicone and i use water based lubes that are glycerine and paraben free.  One is sliquid and one is Defense by Intimate organics.  I wear only cotton panties and go without at night as long as i dont have my period.  I wear tampons when i do.  I dont use soaps or other ingredients down there (just plain water).  As far as i can tell i am doing everything right.  What is wrong with me and will i ever get this resolved?

Hi. More probiotics....way more. I insert a couple of probiotics capsules in my vagina once a week or less. I know the pharmacists have a recommended dosage on in the bottle.but I researched first and have taken way more. All is good.

Hi, I want to give a firm reminder that douching is not recommended ever for women.  Doctors do not recommend this as in truth, you do more damage to the natural ph balance of your vagina than doing any good.

Yogurt is really good to eat. Probiotic yogurt has wonderful affects for women.  I've heard of some people putting a bit of this same type of yogurt (by plain, I assume sn8kegal means non sugar as this would be a BAD thing to introduce, sugar that is, into the vagina).  I'm not sure if doctors go for this idea so would check it out with your doctor.

But any type of douching is greatly discouraged by the medical community.

Chronic bacterial vaginosis is not uncommon as it is really hard to eradicate the pathogens completely.  AND, it can be passed back and forth between you and your partner.  It's not a sexually transmitted disease but passes through sex.  For that reason, most doctors will go ahead and treat both the female and male in a relationship.  Ask your doctor about this.  Be patient as the medication will work given time.

The thing that I really found I had to remember with it is things like if I work out at the gym . . .  instead of going home and showering, that I change at the gym into dry clothes especially underwear.  Anaerobic (no air) situations such as with damp, tight underwear has been associated with bv.  So, change your underwear whenever you are sweaty and wear good old fashioned cotton.

Lots of luck dear.

I find that putting plain yogurt on a Tampon and putting it in for a few hours helps...also if you have a garlic clove and some gauze you can put around the garlic clove and use some floss to make a string like a tampon works the best.

Try washing and douching with lemon juice. For the douche put 1/4  lemon juice and the rest water. I had bv and could not get rid of it for the life of me. Did research for years on cures and recently researched what kills bacteria and came across lemon juice. It is just amazing. Works just like that too. I know douching is bad but I've only did it once to kill all the infection. Now I just wash with lemon juice and everything is happy down there :)
