I need help! I am desperate

I have been on my period for about 6 weeks now. It starts and then fades and then it starts again. Last night was the breaking point because I started bleeding heavily and there was bloody discharge clots that were coming out. I just want to know what is going on with my menstrual cycle?

Hi there and welcome.  I had irregular periods more in my 20's than earlier or later.  It often worried me especially when sexually active.  Wondering about pregnancy is the pits!  This sounds different than irregular periods though and is more an issue of irregular bleeding.

Bleeding for an excessive time like this could be hormonally related such as your body producing too much progesterone. That is known to cause break through bleeding and spotting with periods being heavier so it appears you bleed nonstop.  Fibroids are another common cause of abnormal bleeding.

Have you seen your ob/gyn any time recently?  It is wise to have a pelvic exam and pap smear annually.  Now is the time for you hon.  Bleeding for this long should be investigated.  You could become anemic as well (low iron).  So, see your doctor.  You can go to your regular doctor, an ob/gyn, an urgent care or Planned Parenthood.  good luck and let us know what the doctor says, okay?

You need to see an OB/GYN as soon as possible!  At 20 years of age, your period should be "regular/normal" which is, of course, different for all of us, but what you are experiencing is definitely NOT normal.

PLEASE SEE A DOCTOR!
