I've been having severe cramps and foul smelling period blood

I missed my period two months in a row, now that I've finally got it, I've been having off and on severe cramps that wake me up out of a dead sleep from how painful the are, also my period blood was extremely heavy at first, I'm on day 6 and it lightened up quite a bit but the whole time my period blood has smelled very foul, I thought I may have forgotten a tampon up there but I checked and nothing. This has never happened to me before.

You may want to look into possible uterine fibroids or adenomyosis. I've heard of the foul odor from uterine fibroids and the heavy bleeding from adenomyosis, and they are sometimes misdiagnosed as one another. Definitely keep track of your symptoms for the next few months. Personally, I had a couple years of pain-free periods before the severe pain began. If your symptoms continue or get worse over time, and don't respond to OTC pain medication, it may be a sign of an underlying problem. I'm currently looking toward natural remedies and recently got the book "Period Repair Manual" which has a lot of helpful information.
