Masturbating to much, after retirement

I'm a 50 y/o single woman, and took a early retired a couple years ago. In the last 6 to 8 months my sex drive has become almost  uncontrollable, I Masturbate several times a day, for hours each time. It's seems never enough, and it's all I think about most of the day. I started using a hard plastic vibrator that I've had for years, but hardly ever used till now. Now with the almost constant use the inside my vagina & my clitoris has become very red & sore. Even that hasn't slowed me down. I've started using my hands and fingers again.Could this be a hormonal change, or something else? I've tried to slow down, but I always end up doing it again. It seems my life revolves around my masturbation. I've been to embarrassed to tell anyone, and I'm not sure what to do, if anything, maybe just a phase I'm going through possibly.

Yes, it could be hormonal.  Also boredom and compulsion.  Are you depressed at all?  I would try to fill your days with activities as best you can.  And otherwise, try not to hurt yourself!  If it is bothering you that you are doing it so often, then resist.  You can do it!  We all can get self control when we need to and if you can not, then that in itself is a problem.  But some use sexual activity to ward off feelings (addiction).  So, explore what else can be going on with you since retirement.  good luck
