In agony, will I finally get a scope?

Hello, I’ve been really quite ill since December and I fell in just getting worse. Firstly, I have always had irregular, heavy, excruciatingly painful periods but in December I only experienced a tiny bit of dark horrible blood once and since then I’ve had no period but still get cramps. Gynaecologist didn’t seem concerned at all and told me everything would be fine. I was given an ultrasound but the areas I’m in a lot of pain wasn’t visible due to an abnormally high amount of bowel gas. I have also been referred to Colorectamy because of these intense pains and the dark red blood in my stools. I now also cannot keep any food down, it doesn’t matter what I eat within around 10 minutes I have to run to the toilet and I can’t stop until my stomach is empty. Due to this I am losing weight very fast and constantly feeling nauseous and dizzy. I’ve had to drop out of college and have to use what very little energy I have to stop myself from crying every day. I’m being woken up at night in pain so haven’t slept properly in months. I’m exhausted and just need help, do you think I will be given a colonoscopy and do you think this will help? Thank you for reading and any advice you can give.

I’m an 18 Year old girl and there is no possibility I could be pregnant.

Oh boy, sounds bad.  I wouldn't assume this is all gynecological.  I think you need to see a gastroenterologist.  However, blood that is bright red in stool is often hemorrhoids.  Perhaps though you have an intestinal ulcer. Or are having also a gallbladder issue on top of the other issues.  That causes pain and eating issues like you describe. A colonoscopy is a diagnostic test and not a curative measure.  But it could help give more information for what is going on.  If you dropped out of college due to health reasons, then it is imperative you have whatever tests they recommend to get you back on track. Let us know how you are doing.

Thank you very much for answering. It’s genuinely horrible I’ve never been so ill. I suggested an ulcer to my doctor but he said it’s unlikely, even though I’m quite sure that’s what’s wrong with me. I should’ve worded it better I of course know that the colonoscopy won’t cure me but I meant to ask, do you think it will be able to give me a diagnosis?

The fact I had to drop out of college has really upset me but it took me a long time to realise my health must come before college. I’m not allowed to drive or be alone really anymore because I can’t keep food down so I’m at  high risk of passing out. It’s not a great life at all ;(
Also the blood in my stool isn’t bright red, it’s a horrible dark reddish colour. I know it’s not haemorrhoids as I’ve had them before.
