Mystery pains and misery

I'm not even sure where to place this question. I'm 22, have been with my boyfriend for 4 1/2 years and we've had a really good sex life... until these random pains began. In the middle of the night, in the dead of my sleep, I wake up with excruciating pains in my lower abdomen- really low. They also happen when I climax, ruining about half of my orgasms and making me scared of sex, NOT during regular intercourse UNTIL I climax. But if this is a gynecologic problem, my doc has not seen a darned thing. Both inner and outer ultrasounds showed absolutely NOTHING. The first doc basically tried to convince me that I needed a psychologist. Thanks, jerk, but this is NOT in my head, it's the worst pain I've ever felt in my life and it leaves me begging to die, crying as I sit on the toilet praying I'm not one of those "didn't know I was pregnant" ladies. The (sort of) patterns show (yes I've been tracking this for the last year) that the pains like to occur between the 18th and the 27th of every month, with random times here and there. Here's what drives me INSANE. When said pain occurs, I have to have a bowel movement for it to stop and eventually about 3 hours later, it stops. The second gyno I saw told me it sounds like Irritable Bowel Syndrome. I've avoided coffee and eggs and too much cheese because they tend to give me stomach aches, but other than that, I don't see how it's IBS. Does anyone have pains anything like this? I feel completely alone on this one like a Diagnosis X patient. Thanks for your time.

Well although I'm completely aware of the magic of miralax, (my mom is a nurse and I'm a caregiver) constipation hasn't been the problem and I've tried that route. :( I have normal bm's all the time, sometimes right before intercourse or sleep so there's something that doesn't add up. I deeply appreciate the info and good thoughts though! I'll keep searching for answers!

Keep trying new docs until someone will listen to you.  Here are two scenarios I can give you from personal experience and I hope they help you in some way:

1>  2 years ago I went to the gyno because I would experience a sharp pain during intercourse.  No other symptoms.  He took a look, said he didn't see anything, dismissed it as possibly a yeast infection and gave me some creams.  Thank god he took a culture too because 2 days later he was calling to say he was wrong, apologized and said I had Group B Strep.  He called in new stuff for me and days later I was all better.  Coincidentally, 3 months later I was pregnant!

2>  From a long time sufferer of IBS with constipation I can tell you that sometimes a diet change just isn't enough.  Try Miralax.  It's over the counter, dissolves in any drink.  Safe enough to take every day and I recommend taking it every day.  (So safe, I give it to my 1 1/2 year old and my 3 1/2 year old).  This may be all you need to "keep things moving" in the right direction.  There are no side effects, no cramping etc.  It just helps you to go naturally.  No need to rush to the bathroom.

Good luck!!!!
