I think I have this too. I didn't notice until last month. But every month around the same time (usually on the first or second day of my period), I feel like I've fallen into bad depression. I am extremely emotional (could cry over the stupidest things), I get irritated and feel easily attacked, I am dead tired and foggy, I feel hopeless and think I will always be depressed. After a day or two it passes, but the anxiety of it becoming permanent remains.

Yes I agree with MammyJane. PMDD totally sabotaged my life. After 4 years of searching for what was wrong and what could fix it, I had to have my ovaries and uterus removed. INSTANTLY better. Went back to life as i knew it before it all colapsed. If you have any questions out there, feel free to drop me a note/message on my page. It can be REALLY rough and yes very suicidal. Esp. when you get your hormones and thyroid bld wrk "checked" more than once and they tell you it's "normal" then you really think your nuts!!! Normal for what??? once my ovaries were gone, i was back to being me!

pms and pmdd are drastically different in the mood dip that comes with PMDD - depression of a serious type. Suicidal thoughts and inability to function. Yes I have been diagnosed with PMDD and am on prozac and Vitamin B.

Well, I hate to say this but...... because of you being 47, is there any chance you could be starting peri-menopause? It might not be that, but you never know. Have you seen a doc yet? I would make an appt and maybe have some bloodwork done. Best of luck!!!

Thanks for the advice. I forgot to mention, I have been on the pill for about 12years now. I will talk with my doc. I just dont want to feel like this anymore. I think I need to start taking calcium too. I am sure I dont get enough. Maybe that will help just a bit too. Thanks again!!!

Ahh, I see. It's good that you've found some relief with the B-complex. I also share your desire to NOT be on any drugs that I don't have to be on. My doctor also recommends a calcium supplement. My personal story is that since I have been  on continuous pill packs (similar to seasonale, just the cheaper way to do it), my mood has been much more under control. I primarily began this regimen because of my endometriosis, however. But obviously, this may not help everybody.

Are you on any type of birth control? You could consider asking your doctor about a regimen that would only allow you to have four periods a year, and conceivably less mood/stress around your periods every month. But yeah either way, just talk to your doctor, and make sure that you know all your options. Best wishes :)

Ok, here is the HUGE list! I usually ovulate around day 16 of my cycle. After that, usually the next day, I start having anxiety/nervousness feelings, sometimes depressed, get extremely emotional, my breasts are sore, I get bloated, sometimes constipated... I think that is it. Anyway, these symptoms usually last until maybe the second day of my period. I have been tracking my symptoms for about 6months now, and this seems to happen every month. I have some anxiety throughout the whole month, but it is soooo much worse during this time. I started taking a B-complex supplement two months ago. It really helped with the anxiety the first two weeks of my cycle, but I am still getting it during the second half (not quite as bad). I have an appt in a couple of weeks with my doc. I am not sure what i want to do. I want to ask to see how high of a dose of b-complex I can go on for those two weeks of my cycle, to see if that helps. If not I have read about Paxil CR- I guess this has been approved for PMDD. I really dont want to take drugs if I dont have to. Any ideas?

Well first of all, what are your symptoms? When I first heard of PMDD it pretty much fit my symptoms..I was kind of surprised though that they even make a distinction between that and PMS.
