Period, bc, and vaginal irritation

I just finished my period. I wear tampons, and a day or two in, I started to have vaginal soreness. I have had minor irritation before from wearing tampons so I thought nothing of it. But it continues. I just started birth control a month ago as well. Do I have a yeast infection. There is irritation and a little itching, but no discharge and no burning. I want to have sex with my boyfriend (we never have before) on Wednesday (and of course protected, so I'm not too worried about passing it on if I do). I've been using Vagisil and that seems to be helping. I really don't think that I have a yeast infection, but I just want to get your opinions. What is your opinion of yogurt to treat a yeast infection if that is what it is????

I was told by a Pharmacist that yogurt can actually make a yeast infection worse. Maybe it's true, maybe not, but I'd rather not risk it. Try Monistat and see if it helps. If it is yeast then the symptoms will vanish within a day or so.
