Period help

Hi i am 13 years old, and im wondering if I can go swimming in a creek while on my period. Also, I have heard of using a tampon, but the problem is that I tried it and it hurts REALLY BAD. Is there any alternative than using a tampon? Or any other way?
Thanks,, Please answer ASAP.

Definitly get the plastic applicator ones and perhaps the smallest size available.
Last thing to suggest then would be something like kyjelly. Some girls need the extra lubrication.

I know when I don't put them in right they hurt. MAYBE get the tip of it a little wet before you put it in. Maybe too dry??? NOT sure.

Not for swimming there isn't. You'll need to use a tampon. Some tampons DO hurt. Depends on the brand and size. Make sure it's not a cardbaord applicator.

get tampons that have a plastic applicator these make the insertion a little easier..also try using a lite tampon they are smaller and may use you less discomfort but you will have to change them more

I don't like using tampons either because they do cause some discomfort when removing them, and I never use them unless I am going swimming. So I can relate to not wanting to use them.
However, your wording makes me wonder if you are using them incorrectly. They shouldn't be so unbearable, especially if you want to have some fun swimming.
My suggestion would be to find some time to just sit down with the tampon instructions and read them over carefully.  Many offer ways of standing or sitting that can help make it more comfortable.  Give yourself some time to relax and then try using one.  Key word being relax :)

Good luck and Best wishes :)
