Persistent Cervicitis with No Answers

Hi there. About 4 months ago I had bacterial vaginosis. It was treated with a 7 day vaginal metrogel and I also began incorporating daily probiotic pearls (l.reuteri, l.rhamnosus) and plain yogurt into my diet. 3 weeks after treatment, i noticed a similar watery, greyish discharge and slight discomfort (no fishy smell after sex though).

I thought for sure it was the BV and used a 5 day treatment of Balance Activ (lactic acid vaginal gel with glycogen). The symptoms were relieved during the treatment and for about 4 days after treatment.

I went in to get tested a month after treatment and was told there was no BV and no sti but that I had cirvicitis (high count of white blood cells were found in urine and vaginal swab). I was given a one day treatment of Azithromycin (1gram). Symptoms cleared for about a week then the watery, greyish discharge came back. A month after treatment, i returned to be tested for BV and the results were negative. I was told to look into alternative treatments like naturopathy, diet change, chinese herbs.

I'm concerned and uncertain how to proceed. Are there other tests I should be requesting? It seems strange to me that i haven't been able to find answers to what is causing this unusual, watery discharge.

Hi.  this sounds frustrating---  sorry you are going through this.  It sounds like that through the swab, you've been diagnosed.  If you do not like the treatment options of your current doctor, go see another doctor with this diagnosis in mine.  BV has a horrible smell and you do not describe that.  (which is good, you don't want the stink hon).  A second opinion can really help you A. feel confident in the diagnosis and B. find other treatment options.  Diet does play a role in our discharge.  You sound heavy into the probiotics which are healthy but don't overdue it.

Would a different doctor for second opinion be an option for you?
