Persistent Itching

This is so embarrassing to even talk about, but it has become more concerning to me lately. I have had this persistent anal itching for a while now. It has been going on for, I want to say, about 3 years. And until recently, I haven't really worried about it, but I started reading up on possible causes and got myself a little freaked. I've had no other symptoms other than soreness after scratching too often and I do have a skin condition called Dermatographia. Don't know if the itching is a contributing factor to that or it is now a psychological thing.

Has anyone else dealt with this? Should I really worry about it or am I filling my mind up with anxiety for no reason? Is this something I should bring up to a doctor? Can I easily treat it at home? I do want to add that money is really tight for me at the moment and I just lost my health insurance. I wanted to gather some info before jumping onto an examine table.
