Please Help, Vaginal issues

-Have had about 2 yeast infections a year since my teens, have been diagnosed many times by swab tests
- Have had 1 sex partner before my husband, who Ive been faithful to last 15 years
-diagnose 2009with a genital wart - had it removed in  (no warts since, been checking with mirror, by dr etc)
-Had terrible "classic"  (clumpy, itchy discharge) Yeast infection in March 2011, after my anniversary  trip with husband. cleared up with 3 day monistat ovules
-Had diagnosed UTI this summer by WBC in urine, cleared up with antibiotics
-Beginning Dec 2011 - felt yeast infection start again, held off on treatment 2 weeks till my annual physical (pap, swabs)
-Dr visually told me I had yeast (he saw yeast) pap felt very irritating (cannula insertion) he said tender from YI Said he saw no warts, looked twice
- did 3 day monistat ovules again that didnt work, pharmacist then recommended 7 day cream, could only do 4 days and had to stop becasue it burned. Dr prescribed 14 day oral ketoconazole which gave me a rash so I had to stop after 2 doses.Held off on pursuing as symtoms kind of went away.
REsults finally in from swab (a month later) NEG for yeast and bv and symtoms are back but mainly an irritated burning feeling confined to one spot on vulva. It comes an goes but when its there its horrible. Slight itching around and slight white discharge a bit clupy more "flaky"
Waiting on my gyne referral but this could take up to a month

Any Ideas on what this is please and how to relieve itch/burn?

Thank you for your answer, Im still waiting on my gyne referral. My symptoms were completely gone for the 1st week in feb, 4 days ago they came back. I am expecting my period in 4 days and the irritation seemd proportional to more white discharge (not necessarily yeasty) than normal. Today the itch/irritation was mostly gone but I felt the area and it was itchy again for about 1/2 hour after I felt it. Again I feel no bumps or anything abnormal and my dr said he didnt see or feel anything in December at my physical. Come to think of it, I would often feel the same type of itch in the same area after inserting a tampon, which would also go away once I no longer touched the area. and I havent used tampons in about a year!

1.Is it possible for a yeast infection to be confined to one spot?

2.Does this sound like it could be something more urgent that I would go to a clinic for rather than continue to wait for a referral?

3. Why would my swab test show I am negative if I do have yeast, my dr apparantly saw the discharge

4. Are there other conditions which would give me these symptoms?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
The symptoms can be due to a yeast infection. Candida may involve the oral cavity (thrush), the pharynx or esophagus, the gastrointestinal tract, the urinary bladder, or the genitalia. The best tests involved in the diagnosis of candida are scrapping or swab examination of the scrapings after KOH mounting. The other test that can be done is fungal culture of the vaginal swabs.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
