Pregnant? Girlfriend has reddish brown spotting.

Well my girlfriend has been experiencing reddish brown spotting all day. It started off pink. It's approximately ten days before her period. We use condoms with spermicide lube every time and have only had sex about three times. What is this spotting caused from? Pregnancy?

ok ill tell her..

she should have gotten her period the 7th and hasnt yet..   :-/  ...... i dont think she is pregnant as we were very careful, but there is still that little chance some pre-*** may have gotten in her that we didnt notice. What are the chances of that happening and getting her pregnant? The mid cycle bleeding or whater that was is making me nervous. She usually has normal periods, but last month was a day or two late. That was her first cycle where we had sex. And now she is a day late so far...Is this normal or a sure sign of pregnancy?

Im nervous...I also think it may be a sign (from above possibly)  to wait longer to have sex. To make sure we are ready.

What are your thoughts?!?

Hi Bobby, like AnnieBrook mentioned, it may be a yeast infection, but an infection nonetheless and she should go get checked, also, there is a product you can pick up at walgreens that can detect the level or kind of infection it is and how it should be treated. Please have her pick it up!

If it is "bumpy" like cottage cheese, it could be a yeast infection.

You're not overreacting, it is a legitimate worry no matter how protected you are, simply because the consequences are so serious.  In other words, even if the odds are tiny, the consequences would be so grave that you aren't stupid to be concerned.

Speaking very generally, the fluid that comes out of the penis prior to ejaculation is not likely to have sperm in it, UNLESS you have just ejaculated and have not cleared the tube by peeing or something like that in the meantime.  HOWEVER, I certainly would not rely on that in a birth-control way.  Just use that fact to reassure yourself to some extent now.  All you can do now, is wait and see.  I still would say there is not a strong chance that she is pregnant.

Has she ever has this spotting before. Is she atressed at all. Is she regular ( Does she have her period every month on the day that she is supposed to get. This could be breakthrough Bleeding. Or Like Annie said you just could have bumped her cervix.  But yes please call her Dr.  Um if its flowing like a regular period then she is more than likley not pregnant. If it gets heavier then she prolly isnt pregnant.  Has she had any cramping

You all have been careful.

But she isnt on the pill. That's why im worried. Its possible that some pre-*** may have leaked out but that's it. I finished only once in her and pulled out the rest (while wearing condoms). and the condom was perfectly fine.

Am i just over reacting?

Please don't worry too hard that it is a pregnancy symptom.  "Bleeding at mid-cycle" as a sign of pregnancy is almost more of a myth than it is an actual possibility.  So many women are eager for what's called "implantation bleeding" and we get a lot of questions on this site about it, but nobody ever writes back and says they were in fact pregnant.

If she is on the pill as well as you two using condoms, it is possible that the hormones of the pill are not effective enough to keep her from mid-cycle bleeding.  It's pretty common and is called "breakthrough bleeding," and if she's on the pill she should get a consult with her doc and see if she can try another kind of pill.  Another possibility is that she has a sensitive cervix, and you guys bonked it when doing the deed, and it bled a little.

It sounds like you have been quite careful, my guess is she is not pregnant.
