Recurring Yeast Infection

So I've had recurring yeast infections for a while now.  I seriously get one every month.  Sometimes it seems as if the only time I don't have even a slight infection, is when I'm on my period.  My doctor prescribed fluconazole.  She told me to take one pill each week for 6 months.  The prescription information states that I should see results within 3-5 days.  It has been 2 weeks now and just as I thought it was completely cleared up, it seems to be returning just slightly again.  Does anyone have any experience with a situation like this?  Should I call the doctor or wait 'till my next appt. in 3 weeks?
I also have an ovarian cyst (reason for follow up appt.), could this be related to the yeast infections?
Thanks

I had thrush now for the last year and a half-about 13-15 times. Havent got a period anymore, as I am taking cerazette ( mini pill) every day. I kept going back to the doctors, who prescribed cream, different antibiotics, etc. Eventually he prescribed enough fluconazole 150 mg for the next 3 months. I had to take the first three with 72 hours differerence then the leftovers once a week one tablet. I haven't got itchiness but when I have sex with my partner I have a burning sensation, which can be painful... My partner treated himself with cream, so we cant even have the `ping-pong` affect. Can someone tell me if I am just being unpatient ( 2 weeks gone by since I started the treatment) or shall I go back to my doctor for further advice???? Thanks

I have acidophillis, but I have not continually taken it in conjunction with my prescription.  I also take AZO yeast from time to time.  I will try taking them all at the same time.  Thank you for the advice!

Have you tried taking a probiotic (inner health plus/acidophillis/lactobascillis) in conjunction with the fluconazole?  I used to get really bad thrush and I ended up taking a probiotic from the pharmacy and it worked really well.
