Seasonique

Has anyone had a stroke while taking Seasonique?

I am a 42 yr old that had a STROKE after taking Seasonique for 2 months.  After having 2 children I began have very heavy periods and cramping.  My doctor prescribed me Seasonique.

Within 2 weeks of starting Seasonique, I had horrible headaches, cramps, and a period.  It finally got better.  But now I am still trying to rebuild my life after the stroke.  I have had 1 doctor tell me that I was because of my birth control and 1 that said they were unsure.

If you know of anyone that is taking Seasonique please stop taking it.

Like you, I think there are more of us out there.

My stroke was on the right side also.  So that makes me and my husband wonder about the connects.  I have returned work and my "normal" activities.  I still have problems with speach when I am tired, upset, or excited.  I have to stay VERY calm or I get my words wrong.

I am interested in our conversation.

My wife had a stroke 30 days after she was put on Seasonique.  It has been 9 months since she had her stroke and she has come a long way but is not fully recovered...she still needs speech therapy and works out to try to get her right side back to normal.

How is your recovery coming along?  Have you fully recovered?  I ask as I try to keep my wife's hope up so she'll keep working on her recovery.

I'll tell you the same thing I tell her, you are in control of your recovery so please don't give up and keep working on your speech, occupational and physical therapy.  You must be diligent and also know that we, your families and friends are here for you and will help you with whatever we can :-).

I am trying to find women who've been affected by Seasonique.  I believe there is a bigger group of women who have been impacted than the FDA really knows about.  Please reply to this post if you are interested in further conversation.

I wish you and your family all the best.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
It is very difficult to predict whether the birth control pills was the cause of stroke. It is true that birth control pills raise the thromboembolic chances but it is not possible to pinpoint whether they were directly responsible for the stroke event. Other causes and factors may also be equally responsible.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
