Showing signs of pregnancy? A irregular period? or HPV? The joys of being a women

Pregnancy? Irregular period? HPV?

Like many women, it would probably be better to make a doctors appointment rather than worry ourselves with our own research.  BUT,  here is my what's going on. Between a week and a week and a half, starting around 02-01-13 I started spotting dark brown blood, not enough to fill a tampon. Then the 9th and 10th I spotted regular red blood, once again not enough to fill a tampon (the 11th was when I started my new birth control cycle)

(Repost to clear some things up)

Of course I am thinking I am pregnant, I had sex January 10th, I'm on birth control, no condom was used. I started my period January 11th . But I am also a bit worried about pre-cancerous stuff, my mother had and beat cervical cancer. While I was at the doctors for another, unrelated reason, they checked my urine for pregnancy (though I was not technically "late" yet) and a UTI. It of course came back negative for pregnancy and a very slight UTI which I took care of.

I had premenstrual side effects during the brown blood spotting, usually I do not have premenstrual side effects
--cramps (which is odd, because I am one of the lucky few who rarely, if ever, get cramps during a cycle), More dominantly on my left side
-- I could say back pain, but I have a herniated disc/sciatica  so I always constantly have some sort of lower back pain
--I had nausea that seemed to only happen at night before bed.
--mood swings
--A little dizziness
-- very slight sore breasts
--bloating

I have been on the same birth control for 5 years. Never have had a scare before. My period is usually about 4 days long and never heavy.

As of the 13th I have had no major symptoms except some nausea, which I blame hunger on. And also I had some "warm" feeling cramps. Weird I know.
What should my next move be. At home pregnancy test or should I shut the hell up for worrying about such petty things.

Just an update. I'm still have pregnancy symptoms, the dizziness has increased a bit and the random little aches in my stomach (it kinda feels like when you run a mile and you get that side ache). I notice is more right under my right breast/ribs (mostly when I am crouched in bed on the computer) left side abdominal, and lower abdominal/ovaries area. It's not enough to even be put on the pain scale.
I have a few flutters, took two pregnancy test  today, both negative. But I took them this afternoon after work; I failed to get ANY sleep last night also. I am still not sure if that spotting I had in February was a period or not, but I am now 3 days late for my March period. I have for the past few days started to notice some white discharge one my underwear also. If I were pregnant I would be around 8 weeks.

I'm going to take another test in the morning, right when I get up and see how that goes

Hello,
Sometimes periods can be irregular and the spotting and two days of bleeding can be your periods. I suggest you to test for pregnancy by a highly sensitive pregnancy test 10 days post ovulation with a sensitive ( 20 - 25 mIU ) pregnancy test. Also then I would suggest you to get your serum HCG levels estimated since this is more specific than urine for pregnancy tests. Birth control pills can also cause breast and nipple soreness.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

I just wanted to update, today I have had tenderness around my nipples, and after I got home from work and took my bra off then laid down to relax I got this "warm" sensation on the left side of my right breast. Soooo whatever that may mean.

Well, I had only 2 days this month of actually red blood, the rest was all brown/black (Feb 1st-8th). I suppose being that i only needed 3 tampons a day that would count as spotting and not my period. I could have only used 1 tampon the whole day, but that of course would be unsanitary. I started my new birth control cycle 11th, so technically my period should start around the 1st.

I guess my question is. The week of brown/black spotting and 2 days of red blood, was that my actual period for February or was it spotting?

Hello,
You have not mentioned whether you missed your periods of February. If you have missed your periods, then chances of pregnancy can be there. You can go for blood test which will give you more confirmatory diagnosis of presence of hCG and pregnancy.
