Hi.  Being hypothyroid usually ends up in lack of periods as in VERY long cycles.  That is the typical pattern.  I had periods every 3 to 4 months when my thyroid was slow.  This went on for about a year and a half and then it regulated on its own thankfully.  I was in the process then of starting to work with an endocrinologist and did not have any treatment before my thyroid kicked back into gear.

But the deal is, spotting off and on is more hormonally related.  Hormonal imbalance is what I'm thinking.  But, your thyroid is tied to your hormones. Your hormones may be all out of whack due to your thyroid or along with your thyroid.  I had the double issue of slow thyroid AND too much estrogen production.

So, I'd see your doctor and get some blood work done.  They may find that putting you on birth control pills helps to regulate you again as well as working on your thyroid issue.

I'd personally avoid thyroid medication for as long as possible.  Again, I regulated on my own and I'd give this a chance.  But do work with your doctor on the issue. good luck

Yeah I have been to the doctor and it's like all they want to give me is this low dose of the thylex med which isn't helping me , they said it takes 3 months to see a difference but I've already been dealing with this since July

Hey Danielle! Yes I have hypothyroidism & I have had trouble with my periods as well. I started at a low dosage & that's when my period was the most irregular. You need to talk with your doctor and they might could up your dosage to regulate your body functions! I was having a period every 2 weeks from the time I was 16 until I was 23 (I'm 24 now!)
