Uterine fibroid tumor, high hematocrit, cloudy lungs, abnormal EKG

My mother is 55 years old & went through the change 3 years ago. She has had no complications until now. She began to feel full & self-diagnosed a fibroid tumor which was later confirmed by a pelvic CT. No other masses were noted.  The fibroid is 12x12x20 cm & is pressing on her bladder.

She was referred to a gyno-oncologist because of the complicated surgery & was going through routine pre-embolization tests. Those tests found her hematocrit to be 64 with an undefined, abnormal EKG. A hematologist took her family history & suggested that she may have polycythemia vera. She had 3 grandparents to die from stroke & an aunt who routinely had blood drawn but was undiagnosed. A chest x-ray revealed her lungs to be "cloudy" in the bottom half of both lungs.

She has never smoked, drank, been exposed to asbestos or TB. She has been on medication for high blood pressure for over 20 years. She is able to exercise, has never had pneumonia & only once bronchitis. She was exposed to secondhand smoke for approximately 25 years. She does not experience fatigue, shortness of breath, chest pain or congestion.

She is scheduled for more tests next week regarding the abnormal EKG.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
