Vaginal Infection? What can this be?

I've been having a spontaneous tingling, burning feeling in my vagina accompanied with discharge. I was worried so I went to the gyn and I was diagnosed with chlamydia in May 07' and was treated with Azythromicin. The feeling didn't go away, so I knew that the chlamydia wasn't causing my symptoms. I went to the gyn again and they did a culture, everything turned out negative except for BV, I was given clindomyocin and Flagyl, STILL MY SYMPTOMS persist. I tried douching with a vinegar solution, no help. My doctor diagnosed me with cervicitis and did a cryotherapy and STILL my syptoms are there. Now i'm currently using clindomyocin and Flagyl and I have a yellow vaginal discharge that feels like it's burning me. Anyone have any other suggestions as to what I should do??? This has been ongoing for 3 months!! I'm going crazy!! All the cultures keep coming back negative!!

i second the no douching! your vagina's ph balance is messed up enough without the benefit of douching. so you're negative for HPV, you've been treated for chlamydia, and treated for BV. i know what you're describing doesn't neccessarily sound like yeast, but you should ask your doctor about it. with all of the antibiotic treatments you've had, it would seem pretty natural that you've got a FIERCE yeast infection. and if this is the case, acidophilus pills may not really be enough to return balance to your vagina. either way, i would ask your doctor if maybe the symptoms you're having right now are related to all of the antibiotics you've been on..just see what they think. i'm so sorry you've gone through this much stuff..when it rains it pours! also, ask your doctor about boric acid. they can put it into a suppository that you insert into your vagina, i believe you don't really even need a prescription for it. i never personally tried it, but i've always heard that people have used it as a last ditch effort to get rid of the imbalance. good luck!!

It's probably not HIV. Please don't worry yourself sick over that. That would be a slim chance....in my opinion. We have things like this happen to us and then we look at every avenue we can to pinpoint it so we can figure out what is going on because it is so frustrating. I would recommend not douching because your balance is already upset as it is and that will only make it worse. Keep dredging and keep fighting until you find out the cause of this misery. Please keep me posted. I hope you can find an end to this soon. Please let me know how you make out. It has my curiousity peaked.

Yea, when my pap came back abnormal, they tested me for HPV high and low risk, both came back negative. I think if I had genital warts, the doctor would have seen it during the colonoscopy and it would have shown up on the HPV test. This is a nightmare, I can definitely say that the symptoms subsided a lot since the beginning, and I ordered the Fem-dophilous pills so I hope that it's all just caused from the upset balance of my vagina. I've just been freakin out over the last months and keep linking it to HIV even though my 3 month test was negative. This is horribleee :( Thanks for your thoughts!

I was plagued with this years ago.....same ordeals, same medications. I did the douching thing too. I think I was making it worse when I douched because it would upset my balance. I could never get it to go away. I had cryosurgery 2 times, a LEEP procedure once. I'm not saying to go and do this but when I got pregnant and had my daughter all of the symptoms went away and hyaven't returned (7 years ago). I think maybe the dialation of the cervix while in labor may have caused certain cells from my cervix to slougth off. I was also diagnosed with HPV (human papilloma virus) which is genital warts. It's fairly common. Have you been checked for them? Maybe that had something to do with my situation. I think it's worth checking into. I think it's hard to diagnose the genital warts because I went through 3 or 4 doctors before they caught it. I hope this helps. Let me know how you make out.
