Vaginal problems

Hi I have been having vaginal itching and a think white discharge for awhile. I took metronidazole pills and cream and they both did not work. So I tried testing my ph and it read normal. So I figured it must be a yeast infection. I tried monistat 7 day treatment. It did not work. Still have discharge and itching. I then tested my ph again and it is still reading 4.5 normal. What could this be?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
Vaginal discharge and itching can be due to vaginal yeast infection for which I suggest you to get KOH examination of the discharge done. For the yeast infection, take some precautionary measures like avoid wearing tight fitting clothing like jeans and pantyhose and underwear made from synthetic fibres, remove wet or damp bathing suits immediately after swimming, avoid douching, perfumed soaps, bubble baths and toiletries, change underwear daily, wash underwear in hot water (to destroy fungi) and double rinse (to remove any irritating detergent) and take adequate nutrition and sleep. Also use some antifungal pessaries like clotrimazole (Femizole-7), miconazole (Monistat-Derm, Monistat Vaginal) or nystatin which are available over the counter. If still the symptoms persist then oral antifungals may be needed.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

But bv is usually associated with a higher ph. That's why I was kinda confused as to why my ph is reading normal

The best thing is to have a culture. It could be bacteria that has been resistant to what you have taken.
