Vaginal yeast infection

I've been suffering from redness, intense itching and swelling around my vagina. I also experience a burning sensation during urination and heavy vaginal discharge that looks like cottage cheese. I used prescription ointment and even took oral medications but nothing helped. Is there anyone here in the same situation? Please, help me.

I might have advice to help you, but I had recurring yeast infection and I was not enjoying sex because it was so overwhelmingly uncomfortable, itchy and irritated. This was a multi-step solution:
-always wash before and after sex, pee too
-I use a vaginal PH wash soap. Normally soaps are a no-no because the vagina is remarkable at cleaning itself, but this one helps you to feel extra clean
-probiotics- there are vaginal ones in addition to oral ones, and there are ones that are more for women too
-water - getting your daily water intake is very important.

For me, I also changed my birth control (again) to a lower dose, also seemed to do the trick. I haven't had those symptoms in over a year!

Ugh, sorry to hear.  Definitely sounds like a classic yeast overgrowth.  So, you've taken the oral pills from the doctor?  And used OTC products?  you may need another round and if you are sexually active, your partner may need to be treated as well.  Try probiotic yogurt, the new drinks they make or supplements. Cut back on sugar.  Wear cotton panties and try to air out occasionally (maybe sleep without undies).  But a doctor should be able to swab and confirm yeast and treat.  Let us know how it goes (oh, and do NOT douche).  good luck

Do you know the causes of yeast infections? I took oral tablets from my doctor but my symptoms are still there. I never tried an OTC product, but I used a prescription ointment with no effects. I consume much sugar but I take care of my vagina very well and always practice safe sex. Yesterday I came to a drugstore and the pharmacist gave me Fugacil cream. I've put it on my area a few times. The itching and swelling seem to decrease so much. Hope that it really works for me.
Well, yeast is due to an imbalanced PH in your vagina.  Too  much sugar can contribute.  And when you say you take good care of your vagina, please don't clean it out or douche.  That can upset the ph by washing out the good bacteria.  Probiotics are something to try as they are known to help. You can take a supplement you buy at any drugstore/grocery store.  It also comes in yogurt and drinks in the dairy section.  good luck
