Hi I just found out I have this too. I was wondering if it could have had something to do with my miscarriage?

thanks....I had a colposcopy about 3 weeks ago.....dr. said the cervix looked very healthy.  Although it did come back the same as the pap.....showing low grade changes.  So I will have to have another pap in 3 months.  Do feel better about all this after gathering so much information......

Did you ever have a pap smear come back abnormal because of the hpv?

Yes I did I had two abnormals, I had a coloposcopy (I know I spelled that wrong) its when they take a lil layer of your cervix and test it and it came back postive for HPV.But after the second test I have been fine.

It actually can go away on its own, although some people will say that I am incorrect in this statement. So long as you are getting annual pap smears, if you have HPV which flares up causing abnormal cells in a pap smear, the doctor should be able to catch this early. I had it "flare up" and couple of times and had very routine out-patient procedures, and I have been perfectly clear since 2002. I recommend taking precautions during intercourse since HPV is a sexually transmitted disease (I didn't have control over mine since I was drugged and didn't know what happened until after the fact) ... the men who are the carriers have no symptoms of this particular type of HPV (another strand causes warts, but that is not the same as the type that causes dysplasia in women). Therefore, the men have no idea they are carriers and aren't lying when they tell you they truly believe they have no diseases, etc. It is up to you to protect yourself if you choose to have intercourse. I wish you the best!

I had HPV about 5 years ago and 2 year later at my annual I did have it anymore and I have been clear ever since. It really does clear up most of the time by its self. But when I did have it my dr gave me some cream for flare ups.

I'm not sure if I understand your question.  If you do have hpv (almost everyone will contract some strand of it once in their life,) your body will eventually shed the virus itself.
