Worried

Hi, I'm 23 years old and had a baby 6 months ago. I'm under a lot of stress not with just the new baby but with a load of other things, I have not taken prenatal vitamins and I have not been worried about that. Tonight I found a bald spot on my left side that is about 2 inches by 2 inches. I dye my hair i haven't in a month or so and did not notice it before or during the coloring. My mom thinks its either from the stress or its from not taking my vitamins. I don't have heath insurance and just quit my job. I think its from stress or maybe I have something wrong with me. I do not have any females and not to many males in my family who are bald, I have thick hair well I did untill a week ago when I noticed a lot of it falling out, I just didn't put it togeather till I found this huge bald spot. Anyone going through this or have you known someone in the same boat?

It's normal to shed a few hairs every day.  That's the natural process.  When a woman is pregnant, the usual shedding every day stops happening, and she experiences a really thick and often lustrous head of hair during pregnancy.  Once the baby comes, the shedding process returns with a vengeance for a while.  One can look quite thin on the scalp for a while and the fallout in the sink or shower seems really noticeable, but it's just making up for lost time.  Probably it will all come back soon enough.  You could google "woman's hair during pregnancy" or something like that to read up on the scientific reasons for the phenomenon.
