I recently treated myself for a yeast infection with Monistat 3 day (I was positive it was a yeast infection, as I get them nearly every year thanks to my birth control method and the feeling is unforgetable!)
The monistat got rid of all of the symptoms..the itching and lumpy discharge and whatnot. It probably was a stupid idea, but a day after I stopped treatment, I decided that maybe it wouldn't hurt to have intercourse, since my symptoms were gone, or so I thought.
Now, I am having a slight, aggravating burning sensation, and the inside of my labia minora and vagina is red and irritated again..doesn't itch, it's just slightly irritated.
Is it possible that the inflammation from a yeast infection take time to go away even if the yeast infection is gone? Should I have given myself more time to heal? I've never had this problem before because I have never had intercourse the day after final treatment.
I have no idea what to do, should I just leave it alone and see if the inflammation goes down on it's own?
