birth control pills

I have been on the pill for about ten years on and off. Does anyone know if this will affect my future fertility?

They can thin the lining enough that it can take a cycle or two for it to regenerate, but otherwise no effect. SOmetimes they are used to help increase the chances of pregnancy in women with PCOS and high testosterone levels

Just my story, I was on the pill since age 14 when I first got my period and was on for over 10 years, it only took me 2 months to get pregnant.  It does not affect your fertility when you get off.  There is no evidence to prove so.  HTH

I just got off the pill after being on it for about 10 years.  I was 18 when I went on them.  I am now married and ttc.  I know it's different for everyone, but I have been trying for 2 months now and so far I haven't gotten pregnant.  I am not too concerned, as I have read that it sometimes takes awhile for your body to get back to regular cycles and what not. Actually my doctor told me that whatever your cycles were like before you went on the pill, you will probalby have the same type of cycles.  I wish now that I had paid more attention to my body back then, b/c I really don't remember how long my cycles were or anything like that.  I know I was pretty regular though.  Since I've been off the Pill, I have had a 25 day cycle and a 31 day cycle... and I'm hoping that this next cycle is the one I get pregnant, but who knows.

On another note, my Mom was on the pill back before she got pregnant with my brother and then me, and both times she got pregnant the first month being off the Pill.  I think it will just depend on your body as far as how quickly you'll be able to conceive after going off the Pill, but I've never heard of it causing infertility, just maybe delaying pregnancy while your body gets back to normal (usually a few cycles)
I hope that helps.

Good luck to you!

I was on BCP since I was 16..went off at 25 and got pg. immediately.  They have nothing to do with fertility.  Good luck.

You are probably OK, but every woman is different.  Typically, the longer you are on it the longer it takes for your body toget back to normal.  Odds are good that you will still be able to conceive.  I haven't heard of BCPs ever being the cause of infertilty.
