black blood?

On last sunday I started getting extreme pain in my right lower abdomen and it soon followed with this dark brown blood like i was spotting. I am 23 years old and have never spotted before so i thought it was odd but wasnt going to think much of it. the next day followed with yet again extreme pain in my right lower abdomen and throughout the day i get random spotting of black blood. it dosnt even look like blood its just this black discharge which im assuming must be blood. I have been on birth control since i was 16, all the medications im on ive been on for over a year, im not stressed out infact this is the least stressful i think my life has ever been! so i decided if it hurt like that again the next day i would make a dr apt. well it didnt hurt when i woke up, yet at work (im a mail-wo-man) when i started walking i was hit again with extreme pain in the same spot and could barly breath. i have a doctor apt for the first week of february yet thats pretty far away and im scared...has anyone had this before? what is going on....its day for and yet again, while i was working i got that horrid pain and when i got home there was black blood again..its gross..
please help...:(

Sounds like a ruptured ovarian cyst but you do need to be seen by a dr to be sure.  Call and let them know whats going on so you can be seen sooner. Good luck.

Any kind of extreme pain in the body should be evaluated.  I agree with sb that black blood is old blood, but the most important symptom is your pain.  Something is wrong and you need to see your doctor the sooner the better.

I would say it's just older blood that's just now coming out of your body.. but I'm not even sure with the extreme pain you said to be having.
