breasts sore, enlarged, not pregnant, not PMS,

I am a very petite fit 24 year old woman. I am naturally small chested but over the last month or so my breasts have become sore, hard, heavy, swollen and very rounded on both sides. I have gone up at least one cup size . My breasts have swollen in the past, before my period but typically go back down once my period starts. this has not happened and I should be getting my period again in the next few days. I exercise everyday by running 5 miles and doing an intense workout video with lots of push ups, I am dairy and gluten free, eat lists of veggies and have cut back my caffeine intake although there is currently a good amount of stress going on in my life. I am not gaining weight, in fact my waist size has become smaller. What could be the cause of my swollen breasts? I am not pregnant but am married.

Just because this happened during your other periods doesn't rule it out as a symptom of you being pregnant. Thats not a smart way to think. That would be like me saying i get sick and throw up every time I get my period, so that's not a sign of morning sickness for me. That's just a sign my period is coming. Did you get your period though? And even if you did bleed was it like a normal period or was it super light? Cause it could have been implantation bleeding.

I  know I'm not pregnant because I have gotten my period  twice while this has been happening and it hasn't gone away as it normally does which is why I am wondering why this is happening. I should be getting my period again soon but the symptoms have stayed the same the whole time.

Why do you say it's not PMS?  If  your period is due in the next few days,  and you're not pregnant,  it seems like it probably is exactly PMS.

On the other hand,  if you're thin,  and you run 5 miles a day,  and you also do an intense exercise video every day,  I would be very surprised if you're ovulating at all.  That's too much physical activity - usually women engaging in that have cessation of periods.

Have you taken a blood test and a HPT to be 100% sure that you're not pregnant? Cause it could be a possible sign. When I got pregnant that exact same thing happened to me but I dismissed it as a symptom of pregnancy because that always happens to be before my period. I took me 5 months to find out I was pregnant (I'm very irregular and I dismissed my three days of morning sickness as heat exhaustion because I spent the day of and the day after at hurricane harbor) and even then I only took the test to prove my friends wrong. I didn't gain any weight till I was 30-33 weeks.

It used to happen to me a lot as well. I think it's just hormone fluctuations especially since your kinda stressed right now.  I would just test again in a week or two just to double check.
