Yet Another Question lol

I have eczema, I posted a similar post in the Vitamins & Supplements thread, but I had no response.
I have eczema and was recently diagnosed with Eczema of the Vulva (aka Vulvar Dermatitis). I was wondering what vitamins help? I know that Vitamin B6 and Fish Oil do.

In my house I have:
GNC brand Fish Oil 300mg Omega-3s (it's lemon flavored, if that makes a difference)
Spring Valley brand Vitamin D3 (it doesn't have an mg amount but in the Supplement Facts it says that the Daily Percent value is 500%)

I also heard that a St. John's Wort cream can help, but I'm sick of creams. Would the tablet suffice? I have the Equaline brand St. John's Wort tablets at 300mg.

I also have High Blood Pressure (not taking medication for it), Depression and mild Anxiety, so I know that these vitamins will help with those too. Would it be safe to take all 3? I'm starting the Fish Oil tomorrow.

With regard to your depressive feelings, I suggest you see your doctor for help with that.  The doctor may prescribe an antidepressant for you.  They do take a few months to have any benefit.  Counselling will also help.  Cognitive Behavioural Therapy may help you, but I found EMDR very good.   (There are different types of counselling)

Unfortunately, with depression, it tends to come and go.  I wasn't too happy when I was  younger to be told that by my reflexologist who was also a registered nurse that I would suffer from depression on and off, but she was right.  I find the winter months the worst.

I don't know the composition of Vagisil, but hydrocortisone creams can thin the skin, so care must be taken when using them and they need to be applied thinly.  If it does start to flare up, go back to the doctor for a different ointment/cream.  I have found that wearing underwear with the elastic round the elastic makes me sweat more and starts making me feel sore.   I can't use any soaps at all, otherwise it makes it worse.  Exposing the area to air helps.  I was told by the doctor's receptionist that her mother uses Vaseline.  I haven't tried that so don't know if it would help or make it worse.

Would you be able to make an appointment with the nurse at the surgery to check your blood pressure every few weeks?  If it is persistently high you need help with that.  Some people do suffer from what is called "white coat syndrome" which means their blood pressure goes up at the thought of being at the doctor's surgery.  If this is the case with yourself, they usually provide a blood pressure monitor that you wear which takes readings every so often over a 24 hour period or sometimes longer.

Hope you get on OK

Best wishes.

I only get dizzy if I'm in the heat too long. Usually when my bp is too high, I can tell, and eating ice helps. My doctor didn't say anything about going back on medication for my bp. Depression wise, it's an every other day thing, I used to be suicidal when I was younger (ages 13-19) and I used to self-mutilate (haven't in over 3 years), The burning/stinging itch is subsiding. I showered earlier and used the Dove Unscented Sensitive Skin Beauty Bar and it helped. I'm trying not to use the Vagisil too much since I heard that you can overdose on it and cause your vulva to be numb for awhile. The doctor said I could use a triple antibiotic plus pain relief ointment so I literally use a pinpoint amount on and use an icepack. I feel better, it's just before I go to sleep and as soon as I wake up that I'm ungodly itchy. Throughout the day, not so much.

A blood pressure of 140/90 is too high.  Although for a middle aged person a systolic of 40 would be acceptable, a diastolic reading of 90 is too high for everybody.  A diastolic of 100 is far too high.  Your hypertension should be monitored by your doctor.
It may be "kinda usual" for you, but it is far too high and needs medical attention.

If you are not able to bring down the high blood pressure by diet and exercise and losing weight, the doctor would put you on medication for hypertension.  I am surprised that you are not complaining of dizzy spells.  Some people do not have any symptoms, but if my blood pressure goes high, then I have headaches and feel light headed and dizzy.

Having high blood pressure is dangerous, you could get a heart attack or a stroke from high blood pressure.

I have never used St. John's Wort so cannot comment on it.  But what I do know is that you still have to be careful using herbal remedies.
Being stressed out will also make your blood pressure go up.
You could also talk with your doctor about your depression.  Do you feel depressed all the time and have lost interest in your hobbies for example, or is the depressed feeling a few days before your start your menstrual cycle?

It is very common for women to experience mood swings before a period.  This is called premenstrual tension (also called premenstrual syndrome).  You can take evening primrose to help if it is premenstrual problems.  Or your doctor can check your hormone levels and can prescribe medication for that if necessary.

Going out for walks or doing some form of exercise is helpful when you suffer from depression.   Also going out and meeting friends.
You may also benefit from some counselling.  Get some help for your depression and don't let it drag you down too low.  The doctor would be able to prescribe something for the depression and anxiety.

With the burning stinging itch you have, read my reply in the other post to you.  Although your doctor said that you have vaginal dermatitis, you may also have Thrush which is a fungal infection.  So you may need an antifungal cream to treat it.  Go back to your doctor so she can prescribe you with an antifungal cream or a different medication than the Vagisil.
Wash your clothes with non-biological detergents.

Best wishes.

I'm not on any type of medication right now for anything. But last time I checked my blood pressure was about 140/90 ( which is kinda usual for me, I was diagnosed with Hypertension when I was in third grade, back then my bp was 150/100). I know that St. John's Wort is for depression, but I've been extremely stressed out lately and I figured it might help but I didn't want to mix the supplements if it was unsafe. Also, now the itchyness is down a bit, now I have that annoying "burning stinging itch".

Glad to know that you managed to see your doctor with regard to your vulva.  If the cream the doctor recommended you use does not settle your condition, go back to her.  I have found that sometimes one cream works, and then need to change and the doctor prescribes a different one.  Bath emollients are a good idea too.

St. John's Wort as you know is a herbal remedy for depression.  If the doctor has prescribed you with any antidepressants, then you should not be taking the St. John's Wort.

I suffer with eczema too and have to have different lotions and potions for different part of the body.

How high is your blood pressure?  Your doctor should be monitoring that to see if you need to be put on medication for hypertension.
