prolonged period

I've had my period for 16 days now. Extremely heavy bleeding with very large clots. The blood has been bright red and does not show signs of stopping. I'm nauseous, .moody, and very tired. I've read that I could become anemic,  any idea how to prevent that or even better, stop the bleeding? Thanks!

You need to see your gynecologist.  Something's going on.  You won't necessarily have to get on birth control.  That will be a choice for you to make.  However, you do need to find out what is going on hormonally to cause you to bleed for this long this time around.

The best way to stop it and regulate the flow is to go onto birth control. My cousin had the same problem when she first got her period and they had to give her the pill.
