question about monistat and allergic reactions?

I read a lot of posts on here about monistat causing intense burning and etc.  I was just wondering if anyone ever got blisters from monistat, or something that the doctor thought was blisters.  I once thought I had a yeast infection and used monistat for three nights and it was intense and burned...I stopped using it and then decided to go to planned parenthood to be sure. She didn't see any yeast but said she saw blisters ...on the inside...even though I had never had sex! Ever!  She thought it was herpes, of course, did a culture and then I went to another place and got a blood test. Both came back negative, and turns out I had BV which is why I was itchy, and which is why the monistat was pointless.  Of course I ended up getting a yeast infection from the anti bacterial suppository, and haven't felt normal since.  This has been going on the whole year...always feeling like a yeast infection.  I just wanted to know if it is possible that the supposed "blisters" she saw could be from monistat.  I mean according to the tests (which were done three months after I had any contact with a guy, though we didn't even have intercourse) I don't have HSV1 or 2....but what could she have seen?  I know that my skin is sensitive and once when I used hair removal cream my legs blistered haha, but I don't know if it's possible to have the same reaction in your vag to monistat....

hmmm.....

Just to let you guys know, I had a similar thing happen to me, thought it was a yeast infection but turned out to be herpes. Don't get freaked out! When I got the tests back it was HSV1. Basically herpes comes in two types (oral and genital) but the two types can transfer between areas. I had the oral one but on my vagina. Just because you have herpes doesn't mean you or your partner has cheated - might just be they went down on you! The virus sheds even when the other person doesn't have a cold sore, and is in fact most actively shedding the days before a cold sore appears, so definitely not visible. My partner had never even had a cold sore, but still gave me it as he was carrying the virus without any symptoms. Over 80% of the population carries the HSV1 virus. So if it turns out your yeast/blisters/pain is herpes, it's not the end of the world. I only had one outbreak (it's been four years since then) and it's not affected my life at all. Hope all is well to posters and panicked lurkers reading this thread x

Hi ladies -- I know I'm a few years late to this discussion but I have the exact same situation going on!! Did anyone get any of their tests back? I've been with my bf for a year and we've never had any issues. A few days ago I was having abnormal pain in my vagina and while urinating and suspected a yeast infection, even though i did NOT have the typical discharge issue... After about 2 days, went and bought monistat 3 plus the external cream. The next morning, I woke up to what look like blisters or sores -- I thought maybe it was because I had recently shaved and the external cream had irritated/enflamed it?? Now 2 days later some areas have gotten better but one sore on my labia is still quite painful... went to the doctor this morning and had tests done, positive for bacterial vaginosis. She gave me meds for both the bv and the yeast infection (tests inconclusive because I had just used the monistat last night) and swabbed one of the sores -- said it could potentially be herpes. I immediately started crying and have been panicked googling ever since... my boyfriend was blood tested during our relationship and is completely clean, and I thought I was too -- however, I went back through my gyno medical records and blood tests, and it looks like my regular gyno never actually tested for herpes, just the other major ones (hiv, syphilis, hepatitis, etc).... I'm FREAKING out.... any advice as I wait for the swab test to come back??

Oct. of  2013 I used Monistat 7 for the first time.  I am 63 years old.  It was a Saturday and I thought I knew what I was doing.  But I was very wrong.  I used 1/2 dose for two nights but when I used the full 100 mgs. dose all started to burn and swell.  I have suffered with burning anal, vaginal  tissue and clitoral pain and swelling since that night.  Been to several dr. with all forms of tests.  Including for STD..I have to smile at that one.  Conclusion cream  severely burned all tissues.  I use ice packs and I have started on Ibprofine 1 tab every 4 hours.  Things are starting to heal with Gods help I feel.  It is January 16th 2014. It should be taken off the market.  No one should use this cream period.

Same exact thing with me. I'm miserable!  I would rather be in labor with triplets! Does anyone had a solution?  The doctors didn't say I had herpes, when I looked for myself that was the first thing I thought of. It didn't happen until using monistat 1.

I have the same thing going on. I thought I had a yeast infection so I bought the store brand version on monistat 3. Every night I put it in it burned and itched soooo bad I was in tears. 2 days later I now have painful blisters/bumps. The obgyn says it's herpes but I don't think it is at all. I'm waiting for the results but will put it here when I find out. I'm in so much pain!! Has anyone contacted the company about this?

Same thing happened to me. Took monistat 1 and used cool wipes which I've never used before. Couple days later I had swelling and blisters. It is extremely painful when I urinate. Doctor suspects herpes but it doesn't make any sense. I have had a bad reaction to icy hot condoms and wonder if this has the same indredients. Ow.

Wow I am suffering the same thing! I was tested for EVERYTHING around 5 months ago! All of my results came back negitive! So when I thought I had a yeast infection or BV  bought monistat also. Well I used it for two days and about the second day I started having intense itching! So I stop using it, and the next day I found it to be very sore and red! So by that time I knew it was time to go to the doctors! I thought maybe it was BV since I had it a couple months ago and by treating it like a yeast infection I made it worst. So when I got to the doctor office the doctor said she thought it was herpes and saw what she thought was blisters. I WAS LIKE OHHHHHHH NO!!!! It couldn't be! I was just tested for all of that less than a year ago! I have been with my bf for over 3 years!! And I KNOW we have only been with each other! That was impossible! I told her about me using the monistat and how after using it this is what happened! I also told her that when i was experiencing a little itch i started using always wipes/ vagisil wipes. And that using all of that I knew I just irritated my skin. Still again she said no it looks like herpes! So did blood work and a culture, now I just have to wait! This is frustrating, because I know it's probably BV again but she doesn't want to listen! I am also going to another doctor for a second opinion! What did your doctor prescribe you after thinking it was herpes and before your results came back?

Did they do a test for herpes though?  What ended up happening? I was never in pain when she saw what she claims were blisters just itchy.  I think now, after a year, that what I have down there is just bumpy skin because it's always there.  Maybe I did have something at the time that looked like herpes but since my test was negative, blood and culture and since the likelihood that the last guy that even touched me had it is low I'm assuming that it was an allergic reaction or a misunderstanding.  I'm so tired of worrying about it though.

I've had the exact same thing happen to me. I had strep throat so I was taking medication for that. Then I got (what I thought) was a yeast infection. I got the Monistat 3-day and used the first and second day doses. After the first night I woke up with the most excruciating  pain I think I've ever experienced, but used the second day dose anyway. I went to the doctor because I was hurting so bad and she told me it looked like I had herpes. I am not a virgin but highly doubt that's what I have. It caused me to have blisters and swelling and extreme pain when I went to the bathroom. This has also happened once before when I took Monistat and at that point, I was still a virgin. Hopefully this will all clear up soon and I won't have to deal with this for a long while.

Well the second doctor said it could be from that....and then other doctors have since looked at me anytime I've had a problem and it's never been std related, plus I had a blood test.....I did email monistat to ask them though, and I saw on their website that a few people complained about severe burning and blistering   : (

Yeah I've been eating a lot of yogurt and taking probiotics...I recently had a yeast infection again! argh and took the anti fungal med....  but I also put yogurt down there, it's soothing and will help if there's any bacteria in addition to yeast, hopefully....and yes natural kind is best...

I'm hoping someone on here might see this and say "hey me too!"  I mean I know someone who had BV and for some reason the doctor thought it was herpes too and then they figured out through tests that it wasnt and she had the same scare as me....it's been a tough year trying to get over this anxiety...I know that herpes isn't like the end of the world...I just haven't had sex yet so when I do decide to it would be nice to not have to say  "so I've never done this......anddd I have herpes....so still want to?"  And when I say sex I mean intercourse, so you know I could still have gotten from oral or any skin contact I may have had....that's why I am checking up on things...

but I'll see if anyone else posts on here and I'll wait to hear back from monistat : )
thanks for the reply!

it could be a allergic reaction to the monistat but i would ask the doctor about it and see what they say. or i would call monistat and ask if they have ever had someone have an allergic reaction to their product. hope it gets better! yeast infections suckk yogurt helps to prevent them as long as they have live cultures in the yogurt and that info can be found on the carton near the nutrition facts.
