sore breasts after peroid then 14 day cycle.

I am 38. I have always been pretty much every 28 to 30 days on the nose with my cycle. I have only missed 3 periods due to stress (when my parents died 2 yrs ago)but consider myself very regular. This cycle has been very odd I had a very light period 14 days ago and my breasts remained sore after. Last night I started spotting but not having a full-blown period Yet. Today my breasts or less sore although still little on the sides but nowhere near as bad as they were. I've done a self-check I have no new or strange lumps are bumps the only changes I've had is at the end of July had gallbladder surgery. I have also been on Zoloft for 6 months and occasionally will take valium for PTSD from the death of my parents and caring for them while they were sick. But I'm not on it regularly. I've never had an issue like this in my life wondering what it could be or if anyone else has experienced this. Any help is appreciated!

Hi,
I'm sorry for your loss; losing parents can take a long time to come to terms with :(
Medications and stress are a few of the top issues that can really mess up menstrual cycles, as I'm sure you're aware. Another reason that you're cycle might be changing and why you may be experiencing sore breasts, is your age ~ what you've described isn't uncommon for women to experience between their 30's & 40's. For more info. you might want to research 'perimenopause'. Also you may want to start tracking your cycles, and definitely speak with your doctor if the symptoms continue to cause you concern.
For any breast pain that becomes unbearable you can try applying warm towel compresses to the tender areas and take an anti-inflammatory pain med. when needed. Wear a supportive, but comfortable bra (sports-bra's work great!), that aren't tight.  I hope life continues to get better for you ~ Take Care.

Thanks for responding! I did end up having a 7 day period,  but also have downloaded a period tracker. The day after I started my breasts were no longer sore. I'm pretty sure my hormones are out of whack. Hopefully I can get back on track this next month.
