surgery complication or mirena coil effect?

after experiencing pain during sex after the birth of my son i was diagnosed with endometriosis during a laposcropy and the mirena coil was inserted a year ago. after the lap i found that sex isnt as painful but i have no sensation there during sex, despite my sex drive starting to return.

My Gp has told me it could be something psychological which i question as it has been so long and i am the one initiating it and know that it doesnt hurt, however she also said it could be that during my surgery they accidentally cut nerves which is apparently quite common. she has said either way theres not alot i can do apart from paying privately for sexual counselling which i cant really see helping much.

i am also questioning if it could be down to hormones or my mirena coil as i have read the coil has caused some similar problems for other women, but my doctors are urging me to keep the mirena in order to help my endometriosis.

its so frustrating and its been really getting me down because i want sex and i try to enjoy it but i really dont feel anything good and so we both cant enjoy it.

thanks

It definitely could be the hormones- have you thought about going to a different doctor to try to get a second opinion?
