please someone help me..clitoris hair? bad pain..

I've posted a million times about this..but I finally think I know what is wrong now...so now I just need to figure out how to fix it...
I have a doctor's appointment in late august, so until them I'm sorta screwed..but for the past few months I've had this sharp pain in my clitoris, that gets worse when I rub it or it rubs on clothes, etc...a few months ago I noticed a hair growing into the clit, like at the very top, under the hood. I'm 99 percent sure that is the cause of my distress..I'm sick of peopole saying you can't grow a hair there...you can..I've read a few  people on the internet who had the same problem as me, just less pain.
Today I took a warm bath and soaked in it, trying to help, but when I got out, I felt the hair sticking out even more, extremely painful to the touch. My theory is that the warm water helped the hair like pop out more, you know waht I  mean? like how they say if you want to pluck your eyebrows, you should take a hot bath first to open the pores and let the hair out more?
Well anyways, the pain is extreme, and I need an idea to get rid of it, I don't think I can pull it out, I definitely won't shave it, and I CAN"T GO TO THE DOCTOR YET....and I really don't want to pluck it..Eventually it will have to fall out on its own right? It used to be really short and its getting to be pretty long now so its obviously growing..If anyoene can help me I will be EXTREMELY thankful...I've been suffering for so long, please help.
If anyone has an idea I would love to hear it!

I'm so sorry you had to go through this. By now I'm assuming  you have learned enough to be safeguarded against it.
This is something many women-myself included have struggled with.
Having had this issue for some years now and only finding out what the true cause of it was, I came to so many conclusions.
The pain is VERY  sharp, almost electric(shock)-like and it makes a lot of sense since the clitoris is one of the most sensitive parts of the body with the millions of nerve endings it has.
I concluded that the hairs GROW there, as a teenager I never shaved! This would happen to me nontheless, but I never knew at the time what the cause was.
It can affect your sex life, more so because of the pain but even more interestingly for me, I found I experienced my vaginal canal losing it's pleasure sensation right around the time I would have these excruciating pains.
I am absolutely certain there are many women who have this issue and are silently suffering due to the ignorance of certain medical professionals.
You are not crazy or a freak.
You do not have some sexually transmitted dis-ease.
As women we must get comfortable with taking control of your bodies and our body's well being -especially when it comes to down there.
You will need magnifying glasses a stand light and a mirror.
If you have a spouse then it becomes better.
I have used tweezers , but this take a steady hand and a very sterilized tweezer!
Have some coconut oil with clove infused ready to add to the clit after manipulation for those that end up with a sore clitoris after.

NOW- I am not a doctor lol. But no one can tell me about my body at this point. I have journaled too much and know my body too well at this point.
I have noticed that this happened to me more so after are during my period, as if they grow more, or around that time.

Also just adding that I experience this and have for about 8 years. I'm in my 20's but a little worried because I'm quite bigger than I used to be (harder to bend down and see) and my eye sight is really bad up close. I have had hair grow there (it is VERY thin, short and blonde) and I do not have blonde hair. It has a small follicle. I have also had hair and lint and sometimes period blood get stuck up there and harden. It is so extremely painful. I'm so glad to know I'm not alone. And just want to strongly recommend to anyone that has this problem to pluck the hair or remove it. Lately what works best for me is a reusable pointy qtip, to get up in there and drag/twirl the debris out. I have accidently poked myself with tweezers before because it's hard to see and reach. I have to really get in/under the hood, and I think my hood may be slightly fused to my clitoris. I would be worried to use a regular qtip because of the cotton lint but if that works for others that's good!

Just adding myself to the list of women who have experienced this.  It happened a handful of times in my 20's and it was always a single, dark hair.  It happened a few times in my 30's but it was a cluster of several light hairs, all the same length, no follicle that I can see.
Most of the times the hair was exposed by pulling back the clitoral hood and easily pulled out with tweezers except for two noteable times that I will warn you are gross! Once I had a painful buildup of of what I now know is smegma, and massaged it out and a bundle of those hairs came with it, the most I have ever seen at one time.  One time when I was having pain I massaged out some pus and 2 of those hairs were in it.  It was odourless and the pain was gone instantly after getting it out, so thankfully it didn't become a massive infection or anything.  I have read that some benign cycsts will grow hairs and fingernail like stuff, so maybe that could cause it.  I have never talked to a doctor about it.

I've been having the same problem for years. To prevent it I've tried shaving, not shaving, and everything in between, but it always seems to find a way. I'm worried that one day a trapped hair will cause an infection and then I'll really be in trouble. I'm also worried about getting older and not being able to move my body in the way I need to to get them out on my own. So I am planning on talking to my gyno about getting electrolysis hair removal done... my thinking  is hairs can't get trapped if they're not there. Has anyone tried that? If so, did it help? Was it worth it?

I’ve had this since age 12, I’m 27.
These things helped me: (Keep in mind I am sensitive to the fact that extreme pain can be involved, but after a point dealing with this problem is better than not being able to sit stand or walk w/o plain.)
1. Use a dusting of baby powder on the affected area.  It helps to find hairs that otherwise wouldn’t normally be visible.
Then you can possibly see what you’re dealing with.
2. Use a tweezers and pull hairs out, or, if they’re too small or in too far, take a bath or shower and pull hood up to expose hairs and try to wipe them away or use a squirt bottle with warm water to force the hairs to rinse out.
3.Masturbate if it’s not too painful.  Get horney enough so you want it bad enough to have an orgasm, bc the clit gets engorged with blood and the enlargement combined with rubbing can expose and force out hair (or smegma that’s become hardened-which can also irritate.)
Try to relax when doing these unconventional procedures. It helps to prevent poking.
Also, I’ve done all these, and just depends on how long the hair is, if you can see it or not or grab it or not or location.  You can overcome this!  If I could after going to so many doctors, you can use my trials and just get it over!

My hair was removed yesterday by my obgyn and I also happened to have a laser
Treatment scheduled that evening so had him zap all the hair follicles around clit. My clitoris and body of my clitoris are so swollen and painful, like the size of a golf ball. I don’t know what to do. I’ve tried epsom salt compresses and am now icing it. Have you had this happen to you and if so, how did you take care of it? To get the swelling if the clitoral body to go down?
I think this poster is speaking of an errant hair that wraps around the clitoris causing blood to be cut off. It's actually an emergency if that happens similar to this same thing happening with male's penis. For your situation, I would call your doctor if this hasn't resolved and hopefully it has. Similar to what they give women who give birth, they do have an analgesic spray that might help in situations like this.

So glad that this thread exists! I can't find anything else about this issue online!

I have had the same pain being described on and off for years and put it down to over sensitivity. This week I have had the pain and decided to investigate and saw a couple of hair poking out! Pulled them out with clean tweezers there was one single hair, and  like some comments before there were about 3/4 very fine light hairs stuck together. I wonder why they stick together like this?

So glad I'm not the only one, feeling frustrated for those of you who have been ignored by doctors etc.  I know this thread is a bit old now, but just wanted to add to the other ladies chiming in to let you know your alone!

EDIT: I just want to add there was absolutely no pain when I pulled the hairs out, but obviously be careful down there!

I have been dealing with this for almost 10 years! I didn't know what was wrong until about 5 years ago.  I too have been to multiple doctors telling them I can feel a sharp prick on my finger right by my hood.  None could ever find anything.  I decided to get a mirror and flashlight and pull it out myself.  Now I get a couple out about every 6 months or so(with the help ofy husband). I'm so glad to know that others are experiencing the same issue!

While I was masturbating i decided I wanted to watch so I brought a mirror and I notice a small hair. I WAS IM SHOCK. I wanted to remove it asap so I kinda pulled it out with my fingers a little bit and after that with the soft part of my index and thumb press the hood together like a pimple. I REPEAT WITH THE SOFT PART OF YOUR FINFERA NOT YOUR NAIL. And it should come out easily. IM NOT A DOCTOR I JUST DID IT.

I'm 31 years old. I have been suffering from mysterious clit/vulvar/urethra pain for almost 6 months. I've been to my family doctor three times, she's run tests for UTI, STD's, pap, bacteria, etc... and of course they always come back clean. The last visit I had she prescribed a combination fungicide and steriod cream to apply. I applied it all over my vulva and felt some immediate relief but it didn't last more than a few hours.

So hmm I thought the steriod must have calmed the inflammation, but from what? So I sat down after a shower and tried to lift up the hood to take a look at my clit. It hurts so bad to pull back the hood and I've never done it in my life.

I noticed some smegma coming out right above my clit so I squeezed it gently and this orange pus came out (ewww) followed by two public hairs that obviously got trapped in there from shaving. I felt almost immediate relief (my hood is really sore from being pulled back because it's so tight but I'm hopeful that it'll heal).

Now I have a pinhole there that I'm trying not to disturb and will keep an eye on it in case it gets infected. Who'd have thought?

So I didn't have hair growing there (but I believe all of you that say it does grow there) but the trapped hair had been plaguing me for months! I am 100% certain it got trapped there after shaving at some point. I am so glad I'm not alone, thank goodness for websites like this :) Thanks everyone for sharing your stories. Feel good to not be crazy and not be alone. Take care.

I have had the same thing- an occasional super sore clitoris that is way sensitive to the touch and very uncomfortable. While taking a bath one day, I pulled the hood back and there was a hair that I figured must've been a stray that had gotten stuck up there and pulled it right out. This morning I had the same sensitivity and there was a hair again. Easy to pull out but had a follicle at the end so now I know that it's growing from there. Sorry to closed minded dr bf but you are wrong. You must be a man- telling women what's possible and not with our bodies instead of listening... so irritating. Anyway- it's obviously possible if so many experience it. Sad that because of women being told that we must be crazy, so many don't even trust their own eyes and what they've found to be true. Glad I found this- so we all know we aren't alone!

WOW! Love the internet!!! This just happened to me today and I'm glad to find I'm not the only one! I'm 32.
Had discomfort for months, but just thought it had something to do with the cathider I had while I gave birth.
Today, took a mirror, saw a black spot under the hood and freaked!
Went to pull it and had instant pain.....pulled again and a small clump of about 8 fine hairs an inch long came out with the folicle at the end!
I was shocked! No more discomfort!
Thanks everyone for posting your stories!!

i had the same problem, few years ago I was doing some exploring and noticed 2 hairs under my clit hood!! I thought it was normal and everyone has it. I tried to touch it but was scared!! So i left it alone and few times I would have sharp pain in my clit and then also I ignored it but today searched on google and got no results but when I searched more I landed here and the answers here were different, people said to pluck it out and you will have no pain but some people had pain!! I was scared so I decided that I will try to pluck them out and if they come out without any problem then the problem will be solved but if I had pain I will consult a gynecologist. So just now I tried to pluck them out and guess what they came out easily they were only stuck there!!!!! i took them out without any pain. But if you have pain pls consult a doctor

Adding in mine! Super glad I'm not the only one. It started in 9th grade with hooorrrible pain down there for weeks but I didn't say anything since no one else I knew was having the same issue. It got so bad in the middle of a class I had to ask to be excused to figure out what was wrong myself. Popping out from the center of the clit was a hair and multiple clumped up with it. Similarly to others, no pain when removed, and it had blonde/white roots even though my pubic hair is darker. I would definitely suggest a mirror or a chair to help prop yourself up because it takes quite a bit of flexibility to see right.
Currently going on to my 2nd year of college and I still don't know why it's like this but I've been getting the issue less frequently!
Best of luck everyone!

Im not sure if hair is growing inside the clit, recently, i had been experiencing the same pain and it was uncomfortable, it has happened before and usually ot disappears for me, but this time while showering, i decided to take it out because i doubted hair could grow from their and i successfully did it, i would assume the pubic hair on your vagina had a stray hair came loose and had the unfortunate occurence of ending up there...which could cause discomfort and might end up turning it red, although i cant be 100% sure, but i would recommend you talking to your doctor of the possibility of a stray hair gettong stuck there...cause ever since i got it out, it doesnt feel bad whenever i move...althought it feels sore after the discomfort i experienced..

My experience is not with growth, but after shaving if your clit is stimulated (sex/orgasm/masturbate) the hair get inside and clit closes. The hair get stuck in there and will be infected if not removed. So I use to stimulate the clit use Vaseline+ Qtip to try to get the hair out.  But there is a easier way. If caught early, Go into a warm shower and use the shower head to rinse your clit, rubb it to stimulated and help clit to relax and open then hopefully the warmer water will rinse the hair out. If it’s too painful to touch, then it’s probably infected. You have to stimulate the clit with lube and then use a mirror try to locate the hair and remove it with Qtip+ Vaseline/coconut oil/tweezer. Then use some betatine mix with water in a bottle and spray the vaginal area with the solution (to help with infection). I hope this help. It’s just a hair that gets caught up in the clit, if you stimulate first it is easier to get the hair out. But the shower idea only works when you caught it early and for loose hair caught Inside the clit. Hope this helps, but the pain won’t go away if the hair stays, and it will get infected! So get it out ASAP!

Hey guys! I’m a 15 year old girl and I have been experiencing this same sharp pain in the same exact spot: under the clitoral hood. Guess what I soon realized? There was a short black, really thick hair sticking out from under there and I was freaked out as to what it was. For 4 months I knew it was there and had been experiencing pain (every once in a while, but it’d be really painful). Guys. If you have this same issue, just pull it out! It’s just hair. In my case though, it was a ton of tiny hair clumped together when I took them out. It honestly didn’t hurt, but it just felt really uncomfortable lol. Also! Use tweezers!! (I just used my fingernails though, because I couldn’t wait for my mom to buy them.

Thank god for this thread!! It seems to be a common issue

P.S just took it out like 30 minutes ago. I’ll comment an update soon :))

I have the same thing. It's unbearably painful and there is a constant stinging, stabbing pain it drives me insane. I've had it about three or four years but I could never find any info on it. I just pluck as much as I can when I build up the courage. Is there any cure?

I have the same experience. but i was lucky enough to realize the problem before the EXTREME pain tortures me further. (seriously hurts so bad that is way worse than ear piercing)i thought i had some diease and was terribly worried. But i took a small mirror, and looked down there, there is a hair that go around my clit, and its also under the hood. Like srsly my clit was swollen so it hurts so bad to even pull the hood back, yet i still did it. As i said i was lucky because it wasnt a growing hair, but a hair that got stuck there, and the end of the hair was slightly above and was easy to pull it out if you find the end. Instant relief.

It may well be an ingrown hair. It could be cooled up inside the follicle itself. With ingrown hairs you normally just have to bare the pain of extraction. But if it causes you that much pain, then I would see a Gyno and discuss it with them. Repost pls, if what you did and if it worked

Girl, pluck the hair! You need to so it stops the pain. The clitoris is extremely sensitive the pain will be relieved by removal of the hair. It won’t even hurt that bad and it won’t mess anything up. I literally just had the same feelings and pain as you did about an hour ago and checked out my clitoris and saw there was a blonde hair stuck in between my hood and my clitoris (from shaving yesterday), I removed it and all the pain and discomfort is gone. Not 100% your situation but I highly recommend you just pluck it. Trust me!

One can try to use anesthetic (Lidocaine) ointment before removing the hair. The ointment or spray will numb the area rot some time area and there will be no pain. Try it.

I'm so glad I found this thread! I have a nursing degree and had no clue! I woke up one morning with some clitoris pain but, I ignored it for two days. Days later it's still irritated. I slap some coconut oil on it as I always do but to know avail. Then I decide to pull my hood back and I see a sore and smegma! And I'm like what?! I have been STI tested and came back clean for everything months ago and I have not been sexually active since. So I figured maybe I flicked my bean too hard and my nail cut it or something. At this point I'm mad and annoyed bc it's like, whhhyyyy me?! A day goes by and I decide to look again and that's when I notice a hair up under my hood.. it's small. I have never in my life had a hair under my hood (I'm 33). I soak my tweezers in peroxide and dip them in Vaseline and pull the hair out with no pain :)
I slapped more Vaseline just to help with irritation and it not rubbing against my panties etc..
I think my case is just a loose hair getting caught up under there. I'm praying to the Almighty himself that the hair is the cause of my sore and that it goes away!! I think the hair was there for about a week. Will update and let you ladies know if the sore goes away :)

P.s. The site deleted my comment when I made an account so, I had to rewrite it again off memory. Not sure if the comment had to be approved so if this is posted twice, sorry!!

The hair was the culprit!! A few days after getting it out... it healed and everything is back in working order. I can't believe such a small thing could cause so much turmoil! Glad its over!

Same thing happens to me. I frequently get hairs under my hood. I started noticing it a few years ago. Sometimes its stray hairs from shaving, sometimes its fuzz or lint, sometimes its dog hair, sometimes its little bits of toilet paper. All of these things can end up in there from your laundry, and towels. It happens from either your clothes or when youre drying off the area after bathing. The holes and discoloration people describe can be from the hair being there for so long that it actually stabs a hole or embeds there, or can just be erosion from it rubbing there for so long. Its not comfortable to dig around under there. I use the end of a thin qtip dipped in some lube to try to dig it out and then use the tweezers to grab it. The lube is a great help as theres less friction and pain. It happens so often to me that im always aware of whats going on under there after i shave or feel any kind of discomfort.
As for it growing under there, it hasnt happened to me personally, but i wouldnt be surprised. Be careful when poking around, the skin is really thin and tears easily. Good luck ladies, and knowledge is power!

Dusting some baby powder helps to find the hair because it shows up immediately! Trust me it helps if you can't see where the hair is.

I had this problem and went to a doctor. Said I have a fused clitoral hood, which means I can't pull it back, so things are more likely to get trapped inside, like hair and smegma. It can be like that from birth, or develop from a disease that causes scarring in that region. I think mine has always been this way. Can be corrected by surgery, but its optional.

I seriously thought I was the only one, or doing something wrong... I've experienced this for probably 5-6 years now from my college years to just 5 minutes ago when I pulled another out and finally thought, "I should google this".  Thankfully I was raised very sex and body conscious/positive and so in college when I felt a pain I dug around up there until I saw and pulled out a clump of hairs from under the clitoral hood.  (I wasn't scared of "plucking" them as I figured they'd gotten stuck.)  I've dealt with this approximately monthly since then... just always figured it was hairs trapped from shaving, and have gone through great pains to try and ensure no hair gets caught.  Well, I finally noticed that they have the follicle root at the end and finally had to wonder, egad, does it grow up there?  I will be asking my gyno about this when I go in in a few weeks, see if she's seen anything like it, and if not, hopefully educate her.  I wonder if stray follicles under the hood are present and they activate according to hormonal balance/changes, or what's up with that.  But based on how careful I've been with what underwear and loose clothing I wear, and shaving procedures, I am 99% convinced it's growing up there.  Good thing it doesn't hurt to remove!  Now I can just be on the lookout and give myself a quick 'exam' every time I come out of the shower for new ones.
