have you found anything that helps?
Hi, why don't you try another doctor that can see you sooner? I have most of the symptoms you have mention and not only I've been diabetic for 45 yrs I was recently diagnosed with gerd and celiac disease. I don't want to scare you but you might have something else that you don't know of and a lot of illnessess share the same symptoms. Good luck, i hope you can see somebody soon.
Hi Steph
Thank you so much for replying to my post, you have certainly answered most of my concerns, but things I knew already from my research, it seems we all suffer from this debilitating condition yet no one in the medical profession can help us!! What is to become of us "mystery illness" sufferers. Chin up and try and do something to quell your anxiety. I have to keep busy to keep my mind off my condition, I have actually taken a second job so that I am not sitting around the house moping over it. I just saw a specialist (gastroenterologist) who is so busy that I cannot get the endoscopy until January 2010. I keep asking myself why should I have to continue suffering with this (for 5 years now) while other people my age are simply enjoying their life. Well, the specialist gave me another tablet, Motilium (it helps move stuff down into your gut if you have a swallowing problem). All it basically did was make me very very nauseas, i wanted to throw up all the time, i stayed on it for 3 days and took myself off it.
I cant sleep, because i have this pain across my mid-section whn i lay down. I am so tired right now i should be in bed, but Im on the computer instead. Two people have suggested natural therapies as a way to go now, as the medical profession doesnt seem to be taking my pain and discomfort seriously. As long as the ECG and lung function looks good, and Im not on my death bed, they couldnt give a rat's arse what this is doing to me. Oh Im raving, thanks for listening, and anyone out there please feel free to buy in.
God bless to you all.
Regards

I think I may be able to help answer some of your questions doogs, I have a hitial hernia and I have gerd. They found the hitial hernia originally in a barium swallow x-ray... then they gave me prilosec, i was taking 80 mgs a day, and it was still not helping, so they did an endoscopy to find out what was up, and I have a small hitial hernia and mild esophagitis... They gave me carafate to coat my esopahgus so it could heal, and I have been battling with them ever since because I still don't feel better, I do not have heartburn, I do not vomit bile, I constantly feel pressure like I have to burp, and sometimes I burp freely, but most of the time I feel like I have to force it out, and if I do that, I get the vomit in my mouth and it's gross... I have tried to help my diet, doesn't change anything, I could eat a piece of bread and get gas from it..They having had me use reglan to help push the food down worked for a little while, still back to square one.. I think most of this problem is me, because I am extremely paranoid and I am pretty sure I have anxiety... But as far as the hernia goes for you, the bending down feeling is the hernia, the pressure is the hernia, and the burping is the hernia for me.. When you have gerd or hernia or both, your les muscle, (lower esphagul sphincter) is weak, and does not close properly after you have swallowed your food. Normally it is supposed to shut after you swallow to prevent acid from coming into your esophagus, but in the case of gerd it's weak and opens at the wrong times, in the case of a hernia, it stays open constantly, so the acid backflows into your esophagus, so to cure it, the docs give you nexium or any kind of ppi(proton pump inhibitor) to limited the amount of acid in your stomach, and heal the esophagus from damage the acid has caused... In many many cases it works great, but unfortunatley in mine it's not... and it could very well be my anxiety worsening it, I am not sure... I am only a 23 year old female and it stressing me way too much...
Hi, sorry I have never heard of the Reflux Remedy Report......
I am on synthroid for my Hashimoto's...for about 5 months now...as for symptoms I am not sure bcuz I do have several other conditions with overlapping symptoms.
I have had a tightness in my throat, swallowing issues....hair loss....dry skin.....ringing/buzzing in my ears...but as I said these can be attributed to other conditions I also have. I know I do have several nodules on my thyroid and they r slow to gain in size so I am happy for that.

Hi Selma
Thanks again.
Tell me, with your Hashimotos what complications have you had from it? Can you tell me the dosage of Oroxine you are on also.
I will keep you posted as to the outcome of this but I am completely and utterly at my wits end with the medical profession, wasted trips to the doctor, wasted money on drugs and antacids and tests. Have you tried the Reflux Remedy Report http://www.refluxremedy.com/
I am desperate to speak to someone who has tried so they can testify to its success and it is not just a scam to get money?
Thanks again

Hi...I also have Hashimoto's and from what I understand, it can cause u to go from hypo to hyper....and that the nodules can grow larger at ne time so we must have them checked every 6 months to 1 yr along with the bloodwork.
I am not sure what all the Gastoscopy intails.....I had my hiatal hernia dx when I was still in school.....too long to remember.
U r welcome and please post an update after u see ur dr.

Hi Selma
Thanks for your comments, Im happy to know someone read my post.
Yes, i do i have a thryoid condition called Hashimoto's Disease. Had it now for 15 years and have been on meds for that every day since i found out i had it. As far as I knew this was under control so what I am experiencing shouldnt have anything to do with this, otherwise the meds I am on are useless.
The difficulty in breathing and getting a full breath is the most frustrating part to deal with, it affects my whole life because I cant have a full conversation with someone, i ruch my words and conversations now and its really worrying because people think I am being obstinate, but the thing is they dont know that I have this problem where i kind of choke and cant breathe in properly. I am going back to the specialist next week to tell him the meds didnt work, Nexium. You mentioned Hiatal Hernia. Would a Gastroscopy reveal if I had this condition? As that is my next step I think.
Thanks again
Hi and welcome to the GERD forum.
It sounds like u may have GERD along with IBS issues......have u been checked for a hiatal hernia? The bending issue sounds like it could be that.
Stress will add to problems with GERD.
Not all meds work for everyone....did u tell ur dr the meds didn't work?...maybe u can get something else.
ANd u may want to get checked for a thyroid issue....the swallowing issue might be related.
Diet is important especially if u find u have a motility issue.
