taxol vs taxotere

I have been diagnosed with stage  2C ovarian cancer.  I will be starting chemo in a few weeks.  At first I was going to get Taxol & carboplatin.  I am a diabetic also.  The doctor has decided to use Taxotere instead of the taxol  to lessen the chances of Neorapathy.(sp?)  Are both medicines as effective fighting ovarian cancer?

Hi,
Docetaxel (Taxotere) and carboplatin is an approved and effective treatment for ovarian cancer. Docetaxel and paclitaxel have nearly similar efficacy in this setting.
Docetaxel is known to cause less neuropathy than paclitaxel.
All the best, and God Bless!
