Preparing for College

What are some good way to start preparing now, as a freshman, for college? I'm going to look at some different colleges online and I'm about to read a book about college essays but I haven't had time to get with my guidance counselor to talk about it...

I've done taekwondo, played tennis for my school (might go back to that but getting home at 9 and trying to do homework wasn't working out...), I'm going to be learning the guitar and keyboard, I ride horses, and I'm in Spanish II but I'm not doing as well as I would like to at the moment. I would like to learn German or French soon though. I love my teachers and my guidance counselor is also my math teacher. She's amazing!

As a freshman I didn't even think about college (wish I had) so your off to a good start.

Come up with more than one college option. Make sure your "well-rounded". Participate in clubs, sports, and music. I always found drama to be fun. Make sure you get a real good start on a second language; you will need it for a degree. Make sure to have a good relationship with your teachers and guidance counselor. They will be writing your recommendations.
