Green Vision

Today I woke up earlier than usual with a green tint to my whole visual field.  It was like looking through a green sheet of cellophane in both eyes.  It lasted for about 2 minutes, and gradually became clear to where I didn't experience it anymore.  While my vision was green tinted, though, I could still see clearly and had no other side effects.  I also noticed a loud ringing in both of my ears that lasted for a very long time.  I went back to sleep for about an hour and didn't experience the green vision after that, nor the ringing.  However, I still have mild ringing in my ears.  I am on no new medications, I have not changed my diet, nor have I done anything unusual.  I was wondering if this has ever been heard of before, and if so, what the likelihood of a recurrence would be?

my vision just went green tinted for about 35 seconds it scared the **** out of me and elevated my heart rate but i think i'm getting over it. might be related to a setting called digital vibrance on my GPU for gaming. i had changed it because of a recommendation but i've just changed it back. that was scary

if you are back to normal not it should not be a concern unless new symptoms develop or the spot is present and lasts longeer and longer, in which case you need to see an Eye MD ophthalmologist and have a full exam including a macular OCT test.  There are many posts like this on this website. Most are caused by the retina changing from dark adapation (scotopic) to bright light adaptation (photopic) and the center vision (cones), waking up at a different rate that the peripheral vision (rods).
Sounds good. My eyes do this when I first wake up. It only lasts a couple of seconds, but it is weird to say the least.

When I was a sophomore in high school back in '93 I tried out for the football team in hot summer weather. I was unconditioned, first time in a while submitting to such a strenuous activity, and I had developed what I felt was nauseating heat stroke. The chloropsia set in, I told the coaches, and sat out. I later decided to drop out since I had never conditioned myself to play a sport this vigorous in my life, and that summer had JUST BEGUN, that my chances of this occurring a THIRD time would definitely happen. Prior to this, I had experienced chloropsia during another strenuous hot-day activity. Since then I have seen stars once or twice after PT in the military but with rest, water, and electrolytes, I was back to normal. Shoot, I even survived survival training in the hot desert sun for two weeks so it is definitely water, heat, and depletion related.

Visual changes and ringing in the ears are a disturbing couple of symptoms. I would see an Eye MD and an ENT as quickly as possible. You may also need to see a neurologist.
