Your Screen Name:  Jonezy16
Your Name (first name only):  Stephanie
Baby's Name (first and middle names only):  Alexander George
Baby's Gender:  Boy
Due Date:  November 18, 2009
Birthdate:  November 26, 2009
Weight:  10 lbs. 14.8 oz.
Height:  21.5 inches
Your Story:

I had my 41st week appointment and after the doctor viewed the u/s and noticed that the baby was over 11 pounds; she gave my husband and I the choice of either being induced (original plan if labour never started on its own by this week) or having a c-section.  My original plan was not to have a c-section as I was terrified of this alternative.

The reason she gave us the choice for the section was b/c she felt that the baby would get stuck (head & shoulders) if I would be induced..However, if we did opt for the induction decision it probably would have ended up as an emergency section anyhow.....So after a little thought we decided to have the section b/c I wouldn't want to go through all of the labouring and then have the possibility of having a section in the end after all of that struggle.

Well, there's more to this story...The doctor offered us (Nov. 25th) to have the section this day.  I said no b/c I wasn't ready 'mentally' ...as I was totally freaked out about a section..the numbing part waist down....so we decided for the next day.  Well, they went through all of the info with us and told me not to eat anything after midnight to come in for 11am and the procedure should either be at 2pm or 4pm...Well, I couldn't sleep that night except for an hour or so, as I paced the house, etc.  So, in the morning I though geez I'm gonna be very hungry if I don't have the procedure until 4pm so I though what's a small apple gonna do??  I ate it, we get there, I confess my sin of eating the forbidden fruit and they were upset b/c they would have taken me in to have the section at 12:15!!  I wasn't expecting that, if that was the case I wouldn't have eaten that apple!!

So, they kept us waiting in triage and said the procedure may have to be cancelled today it depends on the anaesthesiologist (spelling?!?)....we wait and wait, 3 hours later they said we're ready!  So Alexander George was born at 4:33 p.m!!

The procedure wasn't as bad as I had pictured it to be. I was actually totally relaxed:  unbelievable considering how freaked out I was about the whole thing.  As soon as the little guy was born I didn’t even think about the section anymore and my husband & I were so very thrilled to see him & kiss him.

Your Story:  My husband and I were literally getting in the car on monday (nov 30) at 6 pm when labor and delivery called to say they were currently out of monitors so our induction had to be delayed. They finally called back at 10pm to reschedule for the next day. So we went in on tuesday night. I have pos gbs so I had to be started on antibiotics, and IV. I was started on pitocin around 4:30am. The DR stopped by at 8:20am and at 8:32am our daughter was born. I had went from being 2-3cm at 7:30pm to being 5cm at 8:20am. She decided to break my water. After she did I went from 5 to 8cm and the babys heart rate dropped. Apparently she had the cord wrapped around her body a few times. So when the DR broke my water it compressed the baby. So I had to start pushing or else I was going need an emergency c-section. It happened really fast. I was able to deliver her on my own. I was surprised when they told me she was 9lb 14oz. She was 40 weeks and 5 days when she was born. My 2nd baby was 40 weeks and 2 days when she was born and she was 8lb 6oz. I think she was 9lb 7oz the last time they weighed her in the nursery. Anyway, there wasn't anytime for an epidural and it happened so fast that I told my husband I feel like I should still be pushing or something.
I felt sad that the girls had to wait to see baby tessa. When we were finally able to get home they were both excited. After an hour or so the younger one got a little bored. My oldest has been really interested and they both like to "pet" her. She was born with a head full of hair like my other two were. She is 1 week old today and doing well. We are very happy and cant wait til xmas...

Due Date: November 21, 2009
Birthdate: November 19, 2009 @ 9:21 AM
Weight: 7 lbs 2.7 oz
Height: 20 in
Your Story:

I had my doctor's appt this past Wednesday on the 18th and he had given me the option of getting induced on Thursday, the 19th. He had said that since next week was Thanksgiving week, he would be going out of town on Wednesday and be out the rest of the week and that he was going to have a super busy schedule on Monday and Wednesday and he wanted to be sure that he was the doctor to deliver my baby. And he also told me the risks involved in going past my due date which was Saturday the 21st. He told me that the baby was a good size right now and that if I waited till next week there could be a chance that he would keep growing and that I might need a C-Section if he got too big. And there was a chance he could develop fetal stress. Well, I wanted to see my baby already so I said SURE, let's go with the induction. He checked my cervix and I was not dilated or effaced so he told me to come into the hospital at 7 pm the same day so they could give me medication to ripen my cervix, I would stay overnight, get induced the following morning and have my baby late afternoon/early evening. So I went back to the hospital and they gave me the medication to ripen my cervix at 8:15 pm & it was painful and uncomfortable. I was like, "Wow...if this hurts..childbirth is going to be 10x worse!" After they gave me the medication, I started feeling contractions a couple hours later..and it just got worse and worse. At 1:15 am my water broke and I was dialated at 3 cm. By that time, I asked for pain meds to help with the pain. It helped for a couple hours to where I could pass out but I was woken up by my contractions. It felt like they were coming back to back. I tried so hard to hold off on getting the epidural. At 3:45 am the nurse came to check on me and told me I was dialted at 5 cm, & I asked if I could get another dose of pain meds but she said no because I had to wait 4 hours which would be at 5:30 am. Then she asked if I wanted the epidural and I said no and she asked me why and I had told her I was scared that I wouldn't be able to push when it came time to. She told me not to worry, I would be able to and that the epidural will help a lot with the pain. After 15 more minutes of contractions, I caved and asked for the epidural. She told me I couldn't have the epidural until my IV fluid bag finished and FINALLY at 4:30 am, I received the epidural. I was having contractions all throughout getting the epidural which made me not feel them setting up the epidural at all! Then at 6:30 am, the nurse came and checked up on me and I was dialated at 9 cm! Then there was a shift change and a new nurse came to check on me at 7:30 am. When she did her check up, she felt the baby's head and she goes, "We're ready to have the baby!!!" Yay!! She paged the doctor but he was at another hospital doing a surgery and said he was on his way. She told me to hold the baby in until the doctor got there! lol We did a practice push and while I did the practice push she saw the baby's full head of black hair! The doctor finally got there at 9:00 am on the dot! I gave a couple of pushes and 21 minutes later at 9:21 am..AIDEN WAS BORN!!!!!! :) He is so beautiful & healthy and I couldn't be any happier!!!!

Your Story
I was feeling out of it friday so we went to the hospital around 6:30pm. They kept me there to monitor me since I was contracting. I was on the monitors for an hour, then Iwalked for an hour, and then they put back on the monitor for another hour. I did change from 3cm to 3.5 cm and my cervix thinned form 80% to 90%, and came forward some. So, at about 9:30pm they admitted me. They started me on an iv drip but they blew four of my blood vessels before finally getting it in. After that they did give me a shot to help my back pains. I walked more and dialated to 4cm. But then it stalled for the rest of the night. At around 11am the doctor broke my water. I started having strong contractions and it was all back labor so, after about an hour or so of that I had to get an epidural. It worked great for a couple hours before it wore off. It took the doctor a half hour to get me another dose. It did numb my legs again but I still felt my contractions. At a little after 3pm I started pushing. I pushed for about 45min. and she was born at 3:54pm. I ripped in at least four different spots and needed stitches. She had a lot of fluid in her lungs so she was on monitors all night but everything turned out fine. I am very sore and extremely swollen. I can barely get out of bed to go to the bathroom. But my little girl is here and healthy.

Birthdate:                11/12/09
Weight:                   7pounds 2ounces
Height:                    193/4inches
Your Story:

I had what was considered a high risk pregnancy with history of Ovarian Cancer, Chronic hypertension and Graves disease so I was being watched carefully at the end to ensure my creeping bloodpressure was not pre-eclampsia and with alot of rest (managed to avoid bedrest) managed to make it to 40weeks. The doctors didn't want to leave me longer due to the BP being quite high so I went in on my due date for cervidril as my cervix wasn't ready and was then induced on Thursday 12th November. The Cervidril did its thing overnight and I started pittocin at 8am. I was nauseous from the word go, I was not sure if it was from my morning sickness (I had it right up to the birth) or due to the pittocin or the antibiotics (GPSpositive). The contractions just amplified the nausea and I ended up vomiting once and struggled with breathing slow for the contractions versus the more rapid breathing you do to try prevent hurling!
By 10:30 I was 3cm and 90% effaced so they broke my waters to keep things going and thought I would progress about 1cm and hour. I was starting to struggle with pain an hour later and asked for an epidural and was feeling low thinking that I was going to have pain that bad for 7 more hours! After the epidural was in the nurse decided to check me and at 12noon I was fully dilated! So those bad contractionsI was having was not early stage at all but the end of stage 2 so no wonder I was struggling!
The epidural was wonderul, it allowed us a bit of time where I could actually speak and get energy back since the speed it was all going was very draining. It also dropped my bloodpressure which made me feel better and helped with the nausea. Heavenly! The strong contactions continued but I barely felt them and they had me relax as much as I could to allow the baby to start moving down, get some energy back, ensure my BP stayed a bit lower (it had gotten very high and give the doctor time to get back (she had gone to a meeting expecting me to be a while longer!.
The doctor checked me and agreed to have me start pushing and after 4 contractions (3 big pushes each contraction) Emily Rose was born at 2pm. So I went from start to end in about 4 hours which was all abit unbelievable - amazed the staff as well!
Emily is just wonderful, an amazing experience.

When the say, you will know if your in labor, they mean it. The day before I had no labor symptoms at all,  That morning hubby and I went looking for homes, about a hour away from home,  around 430pm we decided to head back home.  In the car I started timing my contractions, 3-4 minutes apart, painful but bearable,  We got home around 550 pm, it was raining hard.  I decided to hop in the shower, thinking it would make me feel better, nothing crossed my mind to head to the hospital.  Around 615, right when I was about to get out of the shower,  MY WATER BREAKS!! still dripping wet, I still had doubt, it is shower water, urine or amniotic fluid.  I asked hubby for a amnio swab, first one was positive, the next was not clear,  but fluid just kept gushing out,  another one tested positive for sure.  Hubby called the doc.  We got tot he hospital around 7pm, the nurse check me,  I was 6cm dilated,  My contractions were still 3-4 minutes apart, so I had time to recuperate after each one.  I refused Pitocin at first then I agreed to a low dose,  Around 830 I was 8 cms dilated.  I begged for an epidural,  I couldnt do it any more,  The nurse started hydrating me for one, I felt more pressure around 910pm, I could hear the anesthesiologist saying, sit her up, the nurse checked me again, I was 10 cm dilated, she said, you are fully dilated, it's really too late for an epidural.  I pleaded saying that I am too tensed, I wont be able to push without one.  She assured me I would and asked me to push one time,  I did, and she said that I have a little bit to cervix left on the right.  She told me not to push any more, but I pushed silently with each contraction after that.  It was the best way to regain control.  The staff kept saying, you are doing really well, not knowing it was because I was pushing.  Around 10 pm my doctor came, I was 10/100/+1.  The prepped me for delivery.  My little prince was born at 10:19pm.

Long story short because lord knows I don't have the time to type everything...
Went into labor at 4 am on Halloween. Contractions started out 10 minutes apart. An hour later they were 6 and an hour later they were 5 and remained 5 until I was given pitocin around 4pm (3-4cm and 100% effaced) to speed up progression. Was 7cm around 745pm. They turned my epidural off and I dilated to 10cm by 8pm and started pushing. I FELT EVERYTHING! 24 minutes of pushing and my baby was born! Husband was still only in Kuwait on his way here but he called just in time for the pushing and to hear our son's first cry. Considering the circumstances, everything went well! Hubby made it home on Monday just in time for me to get discharged and pick him up from the hospital :). Couldn't be happier! However, I wouldn't mind if our litte guy got his days and nights straight :)

Your Screen Name: Hope_peace
Your Name:Lisa
Baby's Name: Peyton Ruby Brielle
Baby's Gender: Girl
Due Date: Nov 5th,
Birthdate: Sept 17
Weight: 3lbs 9 ounces
Height: 15.5inch
Your Story: its really long but so much happened i couldnt leave anything out

It all started last sunday. September 13th.
DH had been in B.C. for the last couple of weeks fighting fires and was expected to come home on thursday september 17th. (the day Peyton arrived)
But clearly God knew what he was doing and DH showed up out of nowhere to his parents reunion surprising me. (a very good surprise indeed)
DH and been sent home early along with the rest of the guys. (It just so happens that the day he left the fires started acting up again but it was already to late the guys had to come back to sask)
So DH was home, we had officially moved into our apartment everything in place (almost everything) and Monday night I turn to DH and said I think we're going to have this baby early something doesn't feel right.
So we go to sleep and I keep waking up every couple of hours with cramps not thinking of anything (I go into details so if any of this makes you sick I would stop reading now)
and I'd go to the bathroom and there was nothing so to me I was just getting cramps from the way I was sleeping.
Until 9:30 in the morning and I wake up and I'm bleeding. we call telehealth and they don't seem to worried but they tell us to get to the hospital within the next 4 hours to get it checked out.
So I'm taking my time showering shaving my legs (part of me had a feeling that this was it, that I was going to be having my baby soon )
DH didn't want to believe it and didn't want to go to the hospital but after an hour of me getting ready we head over.
They send us right to Labor and Delivery and a Dr. checks me out and they hook me up to all these monitors. a lady brings in lunch and the dr says you should eat seeing how you haven't eaten anything since 2 in the morning. and me being stupid I'm like nah we'll be out soon anyways and we're going grocerie shopping.
so they're doing all these tests on me poking me with needles putting steriods in me to help develope the babys lungs and then send me to my own room.. all the while I'm thinking I'm getting out of here tonight.
Then the Dr. comes in and says we need to send you to Regina right away. Your placenta is detereating (sorry I really cant spell) there is no amniotic fluid around the baby.
so then right after she tells me this she take the u/s machine and she's screaming to the nurses I need people in here. (DH wasn't there he had gone to go get us stuff and fill the car for the long ride to Regina)
so all of a sudden the room is filled with nurses and drs. and she's shaking my belly trying to make the baby move, and I'm fighting back tears cause what else are you going to think when the dr. is screaming for help and saying come on baby move move.
DH walks in just as all of this is happening and comes over and I'm bawling in his shoulder as they continue. Finally after what feels like forever Peyton moves and all is good in the room again and the Dr. tells me.
We need to send you to Regina you need to go now the ambulance is here. we're sorry we can't send you to Saskatoon but they are full in the NICU and we want the best for you and your baby (it was nice of them to want to give us the best)
so I hop in the amublance (DH was in the car behind me 4 hour drive) I had two awesome nurses with me and we talked the whole time. I asked them to be honest with me and tell me whats going on and they were real. they said honey your going to have a c-section your baby can't survive in there anymore)
and I was surprisingly cool about it.
so we get to the hospital around 12am and they take me to this room hook up the monitors again and tell me I can't eat or drink.
well I've had this cough for a little while and when I can't drink my throat gets dry and I can't help but cough. soo then the next day theyre pricking me with needles again doing all these tests. and then two nurses come in and say we need to test you for swine flu (because of my cough)
couple hours later They put me on Isolation anyone who comes in the room has to wear a funny outfit and a mask.. oh and gloves of course.
Luckily my sister and just gotten into my room before this happened because really only her and DH were able to see me for a couple of days.
It was complete hell. people wanted nothing to do with me, and they would try to not spend to much time in the same room as me and I hated it. I had 3 days of it.
so finally september 17th comes. and DH and I are in my room and this nurse is trying to hook up a monitor to my belly to hear the babies heartbeat. all of a sudden the heart beat drops and she can't find it again. she's paging nurses and drs. and the room fills with people rushing me into this room my heart is pounding because I don't know whats going on. why is everyone freaking out.
Then a dr comes in and says we need to do a csection right away and you have to be awake for it.
My heart is pounding even more I'm fighting back tears because I don't want to be awake for it. I wanted to be put to sleep. but I had no choice. so they take me to the room for the c section and they put me on the table and I'm hyperventalating. I can't stop shaking. I was shaking so bad they brought DH in the room before they were finished setting up. soo in walks DH I'm lying on a table naked shaking violently and crying. The poor man he must have been freaking out in side.
he just came over to me put his hands on my face and started praying and he prayed and prayed and prayed and him and the lady who gave me the needle that freezez your body talked me through the whole thing.
It was one of the scariest things I have ever experienced because I was soo scared of feeling it.
but then out of no where we hear. Your baby is here. and I see them take this tiny little human and they start cleaning her and DH walks over to her and first thing he says is SHE HAS MY FINGER LISA SHE'S HOLDING MY FINGER. he rushes over to me with tears in his eyes saying shes here shes here. They bring her over show her to me for 5 seconds and then in a whirl wind she's gone. They took her to the NICU
but because I was still on Isolation i didn't see her until late that night. she was born 2:59 that day I saw her for 5 seconds and at 11:30 12 am I went over there in a wheel chair completely covered in isolation clothes and I got to see my daughter for 5 minutes.
The nurses didn't like me there they said I could get all the babies sicks. It was the worst thing ever because all I wanted to do was see my daughter I wanted to hold her and kiss her. But they didn't want me near her.
so finally the next day they tell me I'm off isolation and I can go see her. DH and I basically ran there.
we got to hold her and everything was perfect. except the fact that my blood pressure was dangerously high it was always around 160/107 so I had to stay in the hospital for a week. in total I was in the hospital for 10 days. and I hated it because I couldn't go anywhere or do anything. but finally after convincing drs. and seeing a specialist they said I could go but I have to take 5 pills a day.
Peyton was in the NICU  for 3 weeks exactly and since then has gained almost 2lbs shes 5lbs 4 ounces
i love her so much
