Insomania after gallbladder removal

Two months ago, I had my gallbladder removed and starting that VERY night, I had bouts of insomnia.   They chalked the first 2 weeks up to surgery (the various drugs during/after surgery, pain, etc...).  However, it never went away.

My surgeon had mentioned taking an enzyme to help my liver (a fatty liver no less) create bile; but I told him no more drugs, I'll be fine.   However, the insomnia won't go away.  The RN said "there's no connection between insomnai and having your gallbladder out".

My doctor has put me on Restoril (didn't work as well), ambien (does knock me out) and natural sleep aids (melotonin made me INCREDIBLY miserable (and didn't help that much)).  Only the ambien worked to help get me sleep.

I've seen literally thousands of websites that say "buy our enzymes!  It'll cure your insomnia!" and literally hundreds of those sites all say that having your gallbladder removed can be the source of the insomnia (which is contrary to what the RN said).

Has anyone had any experience with this?  If I should be taking enzymes, what is going to be best?  Is there anything else I should be worried about?

Did you come up with anything. My girlfriend had hers removed two months ago and now has trouble sleeping.

Hm, that is interesting.  Is she having any other symptoms besides insomnia?
I would go to a sleep clinic and read a few books on methods to fall and stay asleep. It is possible that you have forgotten how to sleep as you used to sleep due to changing your thinking or worrying at bedtime after the surgery, or else a physical problem may exist.
Sleeping meds often have a good effect initially but after months this wears off. I quit them every year for the 15 years that i was on them but went back each time after a night of no sleep, however I learned some useful techniques from a book and quit for good a few years ago. I said to my doc after, "Was it all in my imagination these years?" however I do have the odd bad night now when i don't focus my thoughts in the right direction.
