Hey All,

I really dont want to be induced medically......

Thank you.

Wow! 9lb big baby I've never actually asked how big they think baby may be but everything is exactly as it should be (so they tell me) so I'm just thinking averaged size baby haha!! and I dont really have a massive bump I dont think. Midwife did say that if tomorrows one doesnt work they'll do another one next week if nothing has happened  still, fingers crossed this one WILL work. Good luck to you honey, hope baby's here for you soon too. xxxx

I had my membranes swept last Wed at my 39 week appointment b/c she said she wanted things to start moving along....baby is already possibly 9 pounds or more!!

Anyhow, it was just a bit uncomfy a bit of pressure.....it didn't hurt afterwards, just a bit of menstrual like cramping each day earlier last week, now I don't really have any cramping as I'm approaching my due date!   At this time, I was approx. 1-1.5 cm dilated, not sure about the effaced part never asked, and baby was still a bit high.....so I don't think it was very effective for me.  Since I know the plan that if I don't deliver by my due date (haha tomorrow...yea right), then I'll have to be induced next Wed....I think they will try to sweep the membranes again tomorrow...I have a feeling this may jump start things!  Well hopefully b/c I'm getting anxious and uncomfortable!!

Good luck to everyone!

I had my sweep done at 10 days overdue with one of my daughters and it worked that same day. I had a bloody show and a lot of cramping afterwards and then a very quick labor. But like the above poster said, I was 40 ++ weeks so that's probably why it worked. I can't remember if I was effaced or dilated though. It was 16 years ago (: Since then I have had two inductions a week or more early and then my son who is two now was born nearly 6 weeks early. I SO did not think I was going to still be pregnant so close to my due date this time around but last Wednesday the baby was still really high, I was 2 cm dilated and only 25% effaced. The effacement is the most important factor of the two and also the position of the baby. If baby is low it will help move things along. I think this little guy is still riding pretty high ): I sent my doc an email telling her I want to start talking about the plan and if she will strip my membranes on Thursday, which is my next appt, a day shy of my due date on 11/20. I doubt if she will if baby isn't in a good position still but I can hope. I want this baby in my arms!!!
