Hi I’ve just had this on a run this morning. Hadn’t been out for a run for like two years. But have been fairly active of recent playing netball and tennis. Felt a slight twinge maybe 2km in didn’t think much of it just a strange niggle but at 3km I had a sudden searing pain. Felt like it was my pelvic floor radiating down the tops of my thighs. Immediately gasped and stopped. Walked a few steps and tried to run again but it wasn’t stopping. Thanks for responding to this I’ll look into osteitis pubis
I know this post is years old, but I'm just seeing this & thought I'd reply anyway--for me, it was "osteitis pubis". It flares up occasionally, but I did go to P/T and got exercises to help strengthen my hamstrings and hip flexors. Also a foam roller helps. And basically, rest, ice...
I am not an avid runner, but recently, the day after a run (1.5 miles or so), I have exteme pain in my upper right hip. (Top of the pelvic bone). I cannot run for two days after because of the pain. Could it be the shoes? It feels more like a muscle/tendon strain than an actual bone bruise. Thank you
Hello!
Get her examined by an orthopedician trained for children. It is important to rule out arthritis or any other medical problems early.
Alternatively it may be some simple problem which can due to past injury or some discomfort get it diagnosed.
Take care!
I was wondering if you have found out anything about your pelvic pain while running. My daughter is 17 and has started feeling this same pain. She runs cross-country, plays basketball and runs track. Never had any problems until the last few weeks. The pain is so severe, it brings her to her knees. We have spoke with her doctor and he is not sure what the problem is. Just wondering if anyone might have an idea. Thanks.
Hello!
The pain is surely related to your physical movements so restrict any further jogging till properly diagnosed.
I would suggest you to go for scans and to follow up with an orthopedician for a proper diagnosis of the damage to any muscle or tendon.
You can take intermittent NSAIDs if your pain persists.
Take care!
