Psoriasis and Cancer?

Hello,

Does anyone have any experience with psoriasis clearing up after being treated for cancer?  My father recently had stomach cancer removed and all the rough patches of skin on his elbows cleared up (only some redness remains).  Is this a positive sign or should he be concerned?  His doctor couldn't provide an explanation for why this happened.

Thanks in advance for any insights you can send my way!

I don't think this is unusual at all. I've heard of this happening to many people. Chemo drugs interfere with the how cells act, how they divide/replicate themselves and I don't think they are always particularly specific to one type of cell, so even though a certain chemo drug is selected for it's activity against a certain cancer, it may have also target skin cells as well. (My mother takes the above mentioned drug Methotrexate for her psoriasis). If he hasn't had chemo, maybe it's just the removal of an offending illness causing stress to your father's body that is now improved?? Hope your father enjoys his clear skin,  and his recovery is swift and complete.......
