Waiting on results

everything started two months ago when i started getting severe headaches and light sensitivity in my right eye. then one night a month ago at work i doubled over in pain from the headache and the vision in my right eye became covered by a heavy fog.  i thought that the headaches were due to stress at work with our inventory coming in and having the store in top shape but when my vision went i was rushed to the emergency where i was diagnosed with Optic Nuritus I am now waiting for two MRI's this week then i will be getting the results shortly after. the specialist that i seen in the emergency room is thinking that i might have the begining stages of MS or the worse of the news Devic's disease.  I have been on Prednisone for one month now and my vision is almost back to normal and ive started a taipering perscription to get off the steriod. I still have the same headache that has not left me in two months and i am now pretty much in pain every day with my back hips and legs i am really starting to get scared because my boyfriend and friends have noticed that i get confused easily and my memory isnt doing well. i dont know if the pain, confusion, and memory is a mixture of the headache and the steriods or if there is actually something wrong.  if you have any opinion or suggestions please help.

Thank you so much for your opinion it really helps straighten out my questions for my doctor that i write down in between visits.

i think the scariest part is that i dont have the answers for my 5 yr old who is very very bright.

i forget promises, and times for her and its really heartbreaking because i get so confused with this headache that i cant even remember what i did the last time i saw her.

but she is very paitent and comasionate and she now tells me the very thing i told her when she moved to her grandparents

Hi SCH and welcome to our community here at MedHElp.  I hope you find the information useful and the companionship comforting while you are waiting for answers.

Let me address the confusion and memory worries first - I think those are the first things to go when we are first faced with a major health problem.  I know they both went for me when I had my heart attack.  I just barely regained them when I was hit with my MS diagnosis, and they slipped again.

We seem to be wired in our brain and our emotions to short circuit under this type of stress.  I was even speaking in gibberish shortly after my dx - I only did it once and it was both funny and frightening.   Then you throw in the mix of steroids and other drugs and you can really find yourself slipping.

Keep in mind I am not a doctor so this is just my uneducated theory about this.  My memory and confusion did improve once I had answers and knew what I was dealing  with rather than having this huge question hanging over me.

The doctors are covering all their bases when they say MS or Devics or anything in between.  ON is often a clue that MS is looming - if not immediately then in the future.

Please remember that MS is not a death sentence - most of us will go on to live a full life, finding ways to deal with this MiSerable disease.

Please keep us posted how the next round of tests go and feel free to ask all the questions you want.

welcome again - we're here if you need us.
