HAS ANYONE'S SON BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH "EINSTEIN SYNDROME?"

Hello, wondering if anyone out there has had a diagnosis of Apraxia or Dyspraxia with Developmental delays and a few years go by to find out that your child really never had a correct diagnosis and turns out he was smarter in certain areas like music, mathematics, engineering, arts etc. more than the average Joe?  How is your child doing now after a few years has passed? I have a son who is turning 4 this May 06, 2010 and the doctors are not sure what his condition is yet, because of his not talking they seem to be perplexed about his case.  Here is my description of him. (By the way they don't find him at all Autistic) So, we can rule that out. Or can we????   Here it is in a nutshell:He has no siblings, Is not around other kids, only from time to time at the park,  He is affectionate, empathetic, loving, seeks help, seeks approval, very joyful, very engaging, not extremely social, takes a little while to warm up to, shy, loves! MUSIC!, GREAT! memory, great concentration on what ever project he is working on, intrigued by the mechanics of how things work (mechanical or otherwise), loves mind bending puzzles, not taking well to potty training yet, speaks with one syllable words only, likes other children but is cautious of them, very inquisitive! no behavioral problems at all, no ADD or ADHD very calm child.NO head banging, NO repetitive actions like spinning, ONLY when excited he flaps his arms like a little bird, used to slap himself when he was 1 or two years old when he thought he did something wrong, (don't know where he picked that up from, (we don't ever spank!) thank God! has pretty much out grown that now,  very organizational, loves to stack things and put things in their corresponding order. does not like things out of place (like shuts open doors, drawers, etc. , becomes a bit stuck on things he does well, like stacking blocks for instance. Creature of habit if you will. Does not take well to eating new things, EXTREMELY picky eater, does not like messy foods like sticky, wet or slimmey things. Motor skills are only delayed because MOM did not work on things with him because she thought he was too young for them like, riding a bike, rollerskating, ice skating, stair climbing the adult way. (Not realizing there was a right and wrong way of walking up a flight of stairs!) I believe that the evaluations that he has had put him at about a 2 year old level's development. I think he's as developed as a person can be without being taught the proper things  other than the speech problem we would be much much more developed if he would have gone to daycare, preschool or have been at least exposed to many other things. If you are not exposed to anything how are you supposed to learn anything! My problems is my husband and I have babied him so much that now unfortunately it has become his detriment. So to correct this he is now enrolled in, Tumbling classes, swimming classes, sportster, and enrolled back in his special E.I. preschool (was taken out for a while til this H1N1 scare was over) didn't realize it would have such an impact on him. Also we were to move back to California a few months back but that unfortunately did not pan out, so here we are still and will be here in Rhode Island for the time being until this economy straightens up it ever!  OK this was supposed to be in a nutshell!  So much for that!!! :) Anyway, this is why reading about the Einstein Syndrome is what I'm leaning towards, granted I'm no doctor but I have read and compared to other children on Youtube with these popular diagnosis and The E. S. is the closest I have found I also just realized that even Einstein had a high functioning form of Autism Spectrum according to the books written on him. I just don't know any more. Let me know your opinion on this matter I always appreciate your input with your experience, I'm new to all of this so I will use all the help I can get.  Thank you so VERY much!

I’m looking for any updates/info to the children described. My son has many similarities, he is 2.5, very social, affectionate, smiles, not bothered by noises and lights, points to what he wants, makes great eye contact. However he only has a few words (like 10) and uses them very inconsistently. It is like he doesn’t understand most of what is said to him, unless it is one word or a couple words that he hears daily in his routine. His OT, speech therapist and developmental therapist do not this he is on the autism spectrum. Any advice?

What happened with your son?  My son (3) has a lot of similarities to your’s. He’s very social, makes eye contact with others, can be aloof, but also plays with others. He seems like a candidate for Einestine Syndrome.  I’m an engineer, my father a bio chemist, my wife’s grandfather was an engineer, and the list goes on.  Did you ever get him tested? Latetalkers clinic in Nashville never returns my calls. I’ve been trying for a week now, every day with no response.

I have this condition. I didn't speak until I was four. I sailed through school, I would know the answers to math equations before the teacher had not finished. I excelled in my career, made a lot of money, retired at 53. Big mistake, now I have uncontrolled anxiety from lack of stimulus. My MEDS help, but it is hell.

hi my son has speech delays and i mean he seriously meets all the criteria of einsteins syndrome. he has speech delays, his father works in the engineering department where he works, his grandfather is an engineer, his great grandfather was a physics and algebra teacher. both his father and grandfather are very musically inclined and my son is also great with music. he can play the guitar, piano, drums, and harmonica. he is 2 and a half and he has tantrums because he is very strong willed just like children with einstein syndrome do. on his first day of school they asked me if he had hearing impairments and he does not. he is also very into computers and loves building blocks and i can see him scheming like he will get his highchair another chair and opens the refrigerator door and is planning a great scheme although it doesnt make sense to me. and if he is into what he is doing and earthquake couldnt pull him away. he is great with seeing something only once and forever knowing how it works and how to do it himself. since before he was one we had to put chain locks on all the doors because he could knew how to use the baby proof locks and when we just started to lock all the doors from the inside and use a key to get into certain rooms of the house he started applying the right amount of pressure and twisted it in a certain direction and could easily open the door (something me nor his father could do) hence the chain locks on all the doors. so he can figure out any puzzle or anything that stands in the way of what he wants. my question is how can i get my child diagnosed with einstein syndrome so people don't automatically assume he is slow and put him in special ed when he starts kindergarten.
